  1. 16. Severe asphyxia due to substandard care during labour

    Author : Sophie Berglund; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Asphyxia; Apgar score; labour; delivery; oxytocin; vacuum extraction; Caesarean section; substandard care; medical malpractice; cerebral palsy; neonatal resuscitation; perinatal death; neonatal death; fetal blood sampling; CTG; FHR;

    Abstract : Aim: The objective of the thesis was to describe the most common causes of substandard care during labour contributing to severe asphyxia or neonatal death, to study risk factors related to asphyxia associated with substandard care and to explore the occurrence of substandard care during labour. Background: There are about 100 000 infants born every year in Sweden. READ MORE

  2. 17. Resampling Evaluation of Signal Detection and Classification : With Special Reference to Breast Cancer, Computer-Aided Detection and the Free-Response Approach

    Author : Anna Bornefalk Hermansson; Rolf Larsson; Ulf Olsson; Dankmar Böhning; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Statistics; breast cancer; trend modelling; FROC; confidence intervals; threshold independence; bootstrap; kernel density estimation; mammography; computer-aided detection; Statistik;

    Abstract : The first part of this thesis is concerned with trend modelling of breast cancer mortality rates. By using an age-period-cohort model, the relative contributions of period and cohort effects are evaluated once the unquestionable existence of the age effect is controlled for. READ MORE

  3. 18. Suspended solids and indicator bacteria in stormwater runoff : Sources of bias in field measurements

    Author : Helen Galfi; David Stransky; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Stormwater quality monitoring and control is a prerequisite for sustainable water resources management in urban areas. Abstract : During the Silurian, the Swedish island Gotland was positioned close to the equator and covered by a shallow sea called the Baltic Basin. The sedimentary rocks (predominantly carbonates) comprising most of the island today were initially formed in this warm sea, and the relatively complete succession of rocks often contains fossil fragments and scales from early vertebrates, including heterostracans, anaspids, thelodonts, osteostracans, acanthodians, and a stem-osteichthyan.
