  1. 1. Novel Technologies for Mode-Locking of Solid-State Lasers

    Author : Niels Meiser; Valdas Pasiskevicius; Steinmeyer Günter; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; laser; mode-locked laser; pulsed laser; quantum dot; carbon nanotube; nonlinear optics; saturable absorber; Kerr-lens mode-locking; ultra-fast laser; picosecond laser; pulsed laser; semiconductor saturable absorber;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis is the investigation of novel technologies for mode-locking of diode-pumped, solid-state lasers. Novel saturable absorbers are used: quantum dots (QDs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which both are low-dimensional nano-formations. In addition, mode-locking by cascaded nonlinearities is explored. 2. 2. High Power, Long Wavelength Semiconductor Disk Lasers for Continuous and Mode-Locked Operation

    Author : Hans Lindberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mode-locking; thermal management; spectral properties; optically pumped; single frequency; beam quality; vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting laser; disk laser; Semiconductor laser;

    Abstract : The semiconductor disk laser has recentlyemerged as an attractive alternative to bulky and power consuming gas and solid state lasers. It offers compact, powerful and efficient devices with W level output power and beam properties earlier not achieved with semiconductor lasers. READ MORE

  3. 3. Spectral Control of Functional Fiber Sources

    Author : Robert Lindberg; Valdas Pasiskevicius; Stefano Taccheo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optics and Photonics; Optik och fotonik;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on five projects aimed at spectral control of fiber-based laser architectures. Two of these concern electrically wavelength-tunable laser sources, namely a fiber amplifier system for CO2-monitoring and a novel tunable laser design for flexible pulsed operation. READ MORE
