  1. 6. Contributions to the electromechanics of unbalanced magnetic pull in a synchronous hydropower generator

    Author : Yogeshwarsing Calleecharan; Timo Holopainen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Misalignment between the rotor geometrical axis and the geometrical stator axis in a hydropower generator is usually present at standstill and when the machine is under operation. Now, rotor-stator eccentricity in a rotating electrical machine is a harbinger to abnormal operating conditions of the machine. READ MORE

  2. 7. Selection of stimuli for listening tests by software-assisted ranking

    Author : Jonas Ekeroot; Nicholas Zacharov; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Ljudteknik; Audio Technology;

    Abstract : Within the academic field of audio technology, which is the context of this thesis, research questions related to various forms of perceptual audio evaluation of different types of audio systems are important and commonly encountered. Methods for systematic evaluations of listeners’ perceived audio quality, based on different experimental designs, have evolved over a time span of several decades and are collectively referred to as listening tests. 3. 8. Ice clouds in satellite observations and climate models

    Author : Salomon Eliasson; Corinna Hoose; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rymdteknik; Space Technology;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the microphysical properties of clouds made up of ice particles, called ice clouds. Ice clouds are strong modulators of the outgoing longwave radiation and incoming shortwave radiation, yet our knowledge on several key ice cloud properties, which govern the magnitude and sign of the net contribution to the Earth’s atmospheric radiation budget, is inadequate. 4. 9. Fine particle emissions and slag formation in fixed-bed biomass combustion : aspects of fuel engineering

    Author : Jonathan Fagerström; Christoffer Boman; Dan Boström; Marcus Öhman; Bengt-Johan Skrifvars; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Renewable energy; biomass; thermochemical fuel conversion; combustion; fine particle emissions; slag formation; fixed-bed; ash chemistry; fuel engineering; release;

    Abstract : There is a consensus worldwide that the share of renewable energy sources should be increased to mitigate climate change. The strive to increase the renewable energy fraction can partly be met by an increased utilization of different biomass feedstocks. READ MORE

  5. 10. Endocannabinoids and N-acylethanolamines in translational pain research : from monoacylglycerol lipase to muscle pain

    Author : Nazdar Ghafouri; Christopher J Fowler; Andrew SC Rice; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Monoacylglycerol lipase; endocannabinoid; palmitoylethanolamide; N-acylethanolamines; microdialysis; chronic widespread pain; muscle pain; trapezius;

    Abstract : In the early nineties cannabinoid receptors, the main target for Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of marijuana were identified. Shortly after their endogenous ligands, N-arachidonoylethanolamine (anandamide, AEA) and 2-diacylglycerol (2-AG) were characterized. READ MORE
