  1. 1. Olfactory cues and insects - scaling relations and immigration rates

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Botany

    Author : Petter Andersson; Stockholms universitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : växtekologi; Plant Ecology;

    Abstract : For herbivorous insects, location of host plants and habitat patches strongly depend on the type of sensory cue that is used during the search process and the probability of detecting a patch depends on the relative attraction between patches of different size. The visual impression of a patch increases predictably with the patch diameter and consequently, immigration rates of visually searching insects are often predicted by the scaling to patch size of visual cues. 2. 2. Multiplet bases, recursion relations and full color parton showers

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Science, Department of Astronomy and Theoretical Physics

    Author : Johan Thorén; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2018-09]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; QCD; Multiplet Bases; SU Nc ; SU N ; Recursion Relations; BCFW; Nc=3 Parton Showers; Parton Showers;

    Abstract : Vad består materia av? Det är en fundamental fråga som mänskligheten försökt besvara i tusentals år. Vårt svar på den frågan har utvecklats enormt de senaste 200 åren. Atomer, från grekiskans ord för odelbar, bygger upp materian vi ser omkring oss. READ MORE

  3. 3. Reactivity of Transition-Metal Compounds from Electronic Structure

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Science, Department of Astronomy and Theoretical Physics

    Author : Aleksandra Vojvodic; [2009]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetic edge states; electronic structure; density-functional theory; growth; surface states and resonances; nitrides; density of states; hydrodesulphurisation; sulphides; steam reforming; transition-metal carbides; Bronsted-Evans Polanyi relation; scaling relations; adsorption; descriptor; reactivity; catalysis;

    Abstract : Transition-metal carbides (TMC's), nitrides, and sulfides belong to the class of materials known as transition-metal compounds (TMX's). Besides having intriguing properties, these materials are relevant for, e.g., growth and catalysis. READ MORE

    Abstract : Tactile perception is considered an important contributor to the overall consumer experience of a product. However, what physical properties that create the specifics of tactile perception, are still not completely understood. READ MORE

  5. 5. Experimental and Modelling Studies on the Spreading of Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids in Heterogeneous Media

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Fritjof Fagerlund; Uppsala universitet.; [2006]
    Keywords : Hydrology; NAPL; Multi-phase flow; Modelling; Experiment design; Heterogeneity; Constitutive relations; Multi-constituent contaminants; Capillary pressure; Relative permeability; Hysteresis; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (NAPLs) include commonly occurring organic contaminants such as gasoline, diesel fuel and chlorinated solvents. When released to subsurface environments their spreading is a complex process of multi-component, multi-phase flow. READ MORE
