  1. 11. Food for Thought : Essays on Green Public Procurement and the Market for Organic Food

    Author : Hanna Lindström; Sofia Lundberg; Tommy Lundgren; Janne Tukiainen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Organic food policy; agricultural policy; Green Public Procurement; environmental policy; consumer demand; demand system; price transmission; survey data; retail scanner data;

    Abstract : Paper [I] In this paper, we study a Green Public Procurement (GPP) policy decided by the Swedish government in 2006, stating objectives related to organic farming. The policy aims to increase the public sector's organic food purchases, in order to incentivise Swedish farmers to convert to organic practices, thereby contributing to national environmental quality objectives. 2. 12. Single-Photon Events in the DELPHI Experiment

    Author : Elisabeth Falk; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kvantfältteori; Elementarpartikelfysik; quantum field theory; DELPHI; STIC; LEP; single-photon events; PS; off-energy electrons; silicon-strip detector; coherent noise; emittance; Elementary particle physics; fast wire scanner; High energy interactions; cosmic rays; Kosmisk strålning; högenergi; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Falk Harris;

    Abstract : A series of studies pertaining to the STIC calorimeter at the DELPHI experiment at LEP is presented, and a new generation of fast wire scanners for emittance measurements at PS is described. The STIC studies are centered around a single-photon analysis, in which the reaction e+ e- -> gamma + invisible particles was studied at center-of-mass energies of 161, 172 and 183 GeV. READ MORE

  3. 13. Novel methods for 3-D semi-automatic mapping of fracture geometry at exposed rock faces

    Author : Quanhong Feng; KTH; []
    Keywords : 3-D laser scanner; close-range photogrammetry; engineering geology; fracture geometry; fracture mapping; rock engineering; rock faces; rock mechanics; three-dimension; total station;

    Abstract : To analyse the influence of fractures on hydraulic andmechanical behaviour of fractured rock masses, it is essentialto characterise fracture geometry at exposed rock faces. Thisthesis describes three semi-automatic methods for measuring andquantifying geometrical parameters of fractures, and aims tooffer a novel approach to the traditional mapping methods. READ MORE

  4. 14. Combining X-ray and 3D scanning of logs

    Author : Johan Skog; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Abstract : In Scandinavia, sawlogs are typically sorted upon arrival at the sawmill. Presorting of sawlogs according to dimension, e.g., using an optical three-dimensional (3D) scanner, is used to make the sawing process more efficient. READ MORE

  5. 15. Machine Learning for Appearance Grading of Sawn Timber using Cameras and X-ray Computed Tomography

    Author : Linus Olofsson; Dick Sandberg; Olof Broman; Magnus Fredriksson; Johan Skog; Erkki Verkasalo; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Träteknik; Wood Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis deals with a new approach for the appearance grading of sawn timber adapted to the requirements of modern sawmilling industries and timber market situations. Appearance grading of sawn timber allows wood products to be made with a specific visual style due to wood features such as knots. READ MORE
