  1. 16. Characterization of sawlogs using industrial X-ray and 3D scanning

    Author : Johan Skog; Olav Höjbö; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Abstract : In the Nordic countries, sawlogs are typically sorted upon arrival at the sawmill based on species and dimension. By processing batches of logs with similar size, the sawing process becomes more efficient; the need to change sawing pattern between individual logs is reduced, and the handling of sawn goods is simplified, since the number of different dimensions produced simultaneously decreases. 2. 17. Investigation and calibration of pulsed time-of-flight terrestrial laser scanners

    Author : Yuriy Reshetyuk; Lars E. Sjöberg; Stig-Göran Mårtensson; KTH; []
    Keywords : terrestrial laser scanning; error sources; calibration; coordinate precision accuracy;

    Abstract : This thesis has two aims. The first one is the investigation and analysis of the errors occurring in the measurements with pulsed time-of-flight (TOF) terrestrial laser scanners (TLS). A good understanding of the error sources and the relationships between them is necessary to secure the data accuracy. READ MORE

  3. 18. Incremental scanning and token-based editing

    Author : Rober Bilos; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : A primary goal with this thesis work has been to investigate the consequences of a token-based program representation. Among the results which are presented here are an incremental scanning algorithm together with a token-based syntax sensitive editing approach for program editing. READ MORE

  4. 19. Self-calibration and direct georeferencing in terrestrial laser scanning

    Author : Yuriy Reshetyuk; Lars E. Sjöberg; Milan Horemuz; Hansjörg Kutterer; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; terrestrial laser scanning; self-calibration; direct georeferencing; error sources; Surveying; Lantmäteri;

    Abstract : An important step in data processing from terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) is georeferencing, i.e. transformation of the scanner data (point clouds) into a real world coordinate system, which is important for their integration with other geospatial data. READ MORE

  5. 20. Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Determination of Human Body Composition. Methodological and Applied Studies

    Author : John Brandberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : X-ray Computed Tomography; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Body Composition; Obesity; Metabolic Syndrome X; Glucose Metabolism; Growth Hormone; Fatty Liver; Intra-Abdominal Fat;

    Abstract : Background: Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provide important research opportunities due to their unique capability of characterizing and quantifying tissues and organs. Ionizing radiation is a limitation using CT, and recent developments aiming to improve MRI for determination of body composition have not been validated. READ MORE
