  1. 1. Iron Carbonyl Mediated Parallel Synthesis

    Author : Henrik Gradén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dienyl; scavenger; solid phase; galectin inhibitor; oseltamivir; iron carbonyl complex; polymer bound reagent; cation; linker; parallel synthesis; active ester;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the examination and development of cationic iron carbonyl complexes for use in parallel synthesis both in solution phase and on solid phase. A solution phase methodology for carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom formation, utilizing polymer bound reagents and scavengers and amenable for automation has been successfully developed. READ MORE

  2. 2. Astrocytic communication and cell death during metabolic depression and oxidative stress

    Author : Christina Nodin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : astrocyte; gap junction; ATP; ROS; oxidative stress; Annexin V; AIF; programmed cell death; Nrf2; scavenger; iodoacetate; SIN-1;

    Abstract : Stroke is a major cause of death and adult disability in the western world. Most often, stroke is caused by the occlusion of a brain artery. Within the perfusion territory of the occluded vessel, various degrees of necrotic and delayed programmed cell death will occur if the occlusion persists, leading to expanding tissue damage. 3. 3. Regulation of epithelial morphogenesis in Drosophila by the Emp scavenger receptor

    Author : Ana Sofia Pinheiro; Christos Samakovlis; Sofia Araújo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Emp; scavenger receptor; CD36; cytoskeleton; Src kinase; Diap; DrICE; Hipo Yki; endocytosis; Drosophila; airways; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : The respiratory system of Drosophila melanogaster, the trachea, is widely used as a model system to study the development of branched tubular organs. Airway maturation in Drosophila entails a series of sequential events: first, a massive apical secretion of luminal proteins initiates diametric tube expansion, second an endocytic wave removes luminal proteins and finally liquid clearance and gas filling converts the nascent epithelial tubes to a functional respiratory organ. 4. 4. Structure and function of the HDL receptor SR-BI : scavenger receptor class B type I

    Author : Magnus S.C. Johnson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SR-BI; HDL; Cholesterol; Scavenger receptor; Apoptosis; Ovary; Gallbladder; Peroxisome;

    Abstract : Low plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) are well-recognized risk factors for cardiovascular disease. The uptake and degradation of LDL cholesterol have been characterized in detail at the molecular level. Less is known about the metabolism and cellular uptake of HDL cholesterol. READ MORE

  5. 5. Structure and biological properties of scavenger receptor MARCO

    Author : Annika Brännström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Macrophages are monocyte-derived cells that play an important role in the innate immune response against invading pathogens. These cells express several host defense receptors that can be divided into two classes; those dependent on opsonizing components for recognition of pathogens, and those that can recognize pathogens directly, pattern recognition receptors (PRRs).
