  1. 1. 231Pa, 230Th and 232Th as tracers of deep water circulation and particle transport : Insights from the Mediterranean Sea and the Arctic Ocean

    Author : Sandra Gdaniec; Carl Magnus Mörth; Matthieu Roy-Barman; Per Andersson; Laura Robinson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protactinium; thorium; Mediterranean Sea; Arctic Ocean; scavenging; marine particles; boundary scavenging; particle transport; geotraces; Marine Geology; maringeologi;

    Abstract : The naturally occurring U and Th-series radionuclides have shown to have a considerable importance for the understanding of biogeochemical processes on Earth and in the ocean. In this thesis, the isotopes 230-thorium (230Th), 232-thorium (232Th) and 231-protactinium (231Pa) are used as tracers of the transport and scavenging of marine particles and water circulation. 3. 3. Dispersion Coating for Active Food Packaging: Aroma Interactions and Oxygen Scavenging

    Author : Anna Nestorson; Lars Järnström; Anders Leufvén; Caisa Andersson; José M. Lagaron; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Active food packaging; Dispersion coating; Latex; Aroma compounds; Oxygen scavenging; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : ABSTRACTActive packaging materials prolong the shelf life or preserve the quality of packed food by absorbing oxygen, ethylene, moisture or odours, or by releasing antimicrobial agents, antioxidants or flavours. In dispersion coating, a latex is applied onto paper or paperboard to form a barrier film against water, water vapour, oil or gases. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hygroscopic Growth of Atmospheric Aerosol Particles and Its Relation to Nucleation Scavenging in Clouds

    Author : Birgitta Svenningsson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerosol formation; atmospheric aerosols; hygroscopic growth; nucleation scavenging; cloud; water activity; external mixing; tandem differential mobility analyser; Kärnfysik; cloud condensation nuclei spectra; Nuclear physics; TDMA; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Svenningsson; inorganic salts;

    Abstract : Aerosol particles in the atmosphere are important in several aspects. Some major aerosol constituents that are deposited in ecosystems are acidic or fertilisers and some minor or trace constituents are toxic. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cell-Penetrating Peptides for Mitochondrial Targeting

    Author : Carmine Pasquale Cerrato; Ülo Langel; Shana O. Kelley; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mitochondrial targeting; cell-penetrating peptides; antioxidant activity; scavenging ability; oligonucleotide delivery; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Abstract : Mitochondria have simply been known as the cell’s powerhouse for a long time, with its vital function of producing ATP. However, substantially more attention was directed towards these organelles once they were recognized to perform several essential functions having an impact in cell biology, pharmaceutics and medicine.
