  1. 1. Municipal Energy Planning : Scope and Method Development

    Author : Jenny Stenlund Nilsson Ivner; Olof Hjelm; Lena Neij; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy planning; energy systems; environmental assessment; decision-making; participation; Other industrial engineering and economics; Övrig industriell teknik och ekonomi;

    Abstract : Swedish municipalities are required to produce a municipal energy plan for their energy supply and use. Whether energy planning is suitable to manage local energy systems, however, is subject to debate. This thesis maps municipal energy planning: the scopes of energy plans and whether goals stated in energy plans are fulfilled. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optimization of process integration investments under energy market uncertainties

    Author : Elin Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stochastic programming; scenario-based modelling; investment planning; process integration;

    Abstract : The increased climate concern in society puts pressure on industries to decrease their energy use in different ways, and a number of studies show that there is a large potential for improved energy efficiency in the energy-intensive industry, for example through process integration. Uncertainties about future energy prices and policy instruments make it, however, difficult to evaluate and compare different kinds of energy-saving measures with respect to net present value as well as reduction of CO2 emissions. 3. 3. A generic construction process modelling method

    Author : Vesa Karhu; KTH; []
    Keywords : process; modelling; generic; method; database; view;

    Abstract : A variety of modelling methods has been used to modelconstruction processes and projects, either during normalproject planning or for process re-engineering efforts orresearch. One common method, which is widely used byconstruction industry practitioners, is scheduling. READ MORE

  4. 4. Towards a Scenario-based Spatial Dynamic Modeling for Predicting Urban Land Use Change : Planning Tools and Comparative Analysis

    Abstract : As global urbanization progresses, cities worldwide are growing in size, which leads to many economic, environmental, and management challenges. Recent advancements in spatial data analysis and algorithmic geography have also led to the development of various urban model-based planning support systems (PSS) for urban planning. READ MORE

  5. 5. Optimization of Investments for Strategic Process Integration and Pulp Mill Biorefinery Projects under Uncertainty

    Author : Elin Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; pulp and paper industry; investment planning; biorefinery; scenario-based modelling.; stochastic programming; Process integration;

    Abstract : Energy-intensive industrial plants operate in a changing, uncertain environment. Long-term changes are expected in energy prices, political regulations and technology development. Pulp and paper companies, like many other industries, are under strong pressure to respond to these changes. READ MORE
