  2. 2. A Study of Using Pulsed Neutron Activation for Accurate Measurements of Water Flow in Pipes

    Author : Per Lindén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pulsed neutron activation; turbulent flow; neural networks; pipe flow; flow measurements; eddy diffusion; time averaging;

    Abstract : The objectives of this work were 1) to investigate the performance of the pulsed neutron activation (PNA) method for determination of mass flow of water in pipes, and 2) to improve the accuracy such that an error less than 1% become possible with the PNA method. The ultimate purpose is to develop this method into a high-accuracy portable and non-intrusive flow-meter that easily can be used as a calibration tool at a number of field applications, e. 3. 3. Neutron scattering for sustainable energy materials: investigations of proton dynamics in acceptor doped barium zirconates

    Author : Daria Noferini; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; neutron scattering; fuel cells; QENS; Proton conductors; perovskites; proton dynamics; energy materials;

    Abstract : Proton conducting oxides are currently receiving considerable attention for their present or potential use as electrolytes in technological devices such as sensors and electrolysers and, in particular, solid oxide fuel cells, which are among the most promising apparatuses for energy conversion. One of the main challenges for these latter devices is to combine the advantages of a solid electrolyte with those of operational temperatures below 750 °C, which is currently hampered by insufficient conductivities in the targeted temperature range. 4. 4. Fusion Plasma Observations at JET with the TOFOR Neutron Spectrometer : Instrumental Challenges and Physics Results

    Author : Maria Gatu Johnson; Matthias Weiszflog; Luciano Bertalot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fusion; Plasma diagnostics; Neutron Spectrometry; TOFOR; JET; ITER; time-of-flight; plasma heating; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The neutron spectrometer TOFOR was installed at JET in 2005 for high-rate observation of neutrons from reactions between two deuterium (D) ions. Neutron spectrometry as a fusion plasma diagnostic technique is invoked to obtain information about the velocity states of fusion fuel ions. READ MORE

  5. 5. Chemistry of Combustion Products Investigation of Combustion Chamber Deposits Formed in a Gasoline Direct Injection Stratified Charge SI Engine

    Author : Farshid Owrang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gasoline fuels; SI engine; gasoline direct injection; stratified charge; combustion chamber deposits; engine oil; oxidation; in situ measurement; thermal desorption; GC MS; fast neutron activation analysis; spin-lattice relaxation constant; NMR;

    Abstract : The aim of this work was to characterize deposits formed in the combustion chambers of a gasoline direct injection stratified charge SI engine. The engine was run with several types of gasoline fuels and a special reference engine oil. READ MORE
