  1. 1. Characterizing and reconstructing 500 years of climate in the Baltic sea Basin

    Author : Christin Eriksson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate; Sea ice; Baltic Sea; Atmospheric circulation; Statistical modelling; Wavelet; River runoff;

    Abstract : Climate has always attracted considerable interest, and climate observations have been made in various ways for most of human history. Regional climate and how it varies is of particular interest, as it sets the scene for our everyday life. READ MORE

  2. 2. Sea Level Compensation System for Wave Energy Converters

    Author : Valeria Castellucci; Rafael Waters; Ronan Costello; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Ocean energy; Tides; Linear generator; Point absorber; Offshore experiment; Hydro-mechanic modeling; Power absorption; Control system; Communication system; Measurement system; Lysekil research site; Wave Hub.;

    Abstract : The wave energy converter developed at Uppsala University consists of a linear generator at the seabed driven by the motion of a buoy on the water surface. The energy absorbed by the generator is negatively affected by variations of the mean sea level caused by tides, changes in barometric pressure, strong winds, and storm surges. READ MORE

  3. 3. Cerebrospinal fluid infusion methods : development and validation on patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus

    Author : Nina Andersson; Anders Eklund; Karin Wårdell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Infusion test; idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus; outflow conductance; outflow resistance; intracranial pressure; cerebrospinal fluid dynamics; medical informatics; medicinsk informatik;

    Abstract : Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) infusion tests can be used to estimate the dynamic properties of the CSF system. Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) is a syndrome signified by a disturbance to the CSF system, where the cause is unknown and the diagnosis is difficult to determine. READ MORE

  4. 4. Continuity and Change in post-Cold War Maritime Security : A Study of the Strategies Pursued by the US, Sweden and Finland 1991-2016

    Author : Stefan Lundqvist; Göran Djupsund; Steve Lindberg; Jerker Widén; Joachim Krause; Försvarshögskolan; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Maritime; security; power; influence; cooperation; Baltic Sea; East China Sea; South China Sea; Finland; Sweden; US; Krigsvetenskap; Krigsvetenskap;

    Abstract : What explains continuity and change in post-Cold War maritime security strategies? What lessons can we learn from the employment of such comprehensive grand strategies in maritime regions where traditional and non-traditional threats converge? While many scholars have addressed particular maritime security issues, this author joins the few who engage themselves in the study of the conceptual development of maritime security.Through the lens of structural realism, this thesis examines the logic of the maritime security strategies employed in two distinguished regions by the US and EU member states Finland and Sweden. 5. 5. Relationships between Atmospheric Circulation and Wind Erosion in Southern Sweden and Australia

    Author : Marie Ekström; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pedology; cartography; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; Physical geography; geomorphology; Geologi; fysisk geografi; physical geography; Geology; sea level pressure; atmospheric circulation; erosivity; wind erosion; wind climatology; Scania; Australia;

    Abstract : Wind erosion is a serious threat to soil resources as it causes depletion of the fine fractions that may result in a less fertile soil. Wind erosion encompasses several processes of which many are related to climate variables. To date, there is little work performed on how wind erosion relates to climate and climate change. READ MORE
