  1. 6. Post-Glacial History of Sea-Level and Environmental Change in the Southern Baltic Sea

    Author : Marloes Kortekaas; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kartografi; klimatologi; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; physical oceanography; meteorology; Sedimentologi; Stratigrafi; Stratigraphy; Baltic Sea; geokemi; Petrologi; mineralogi; geochemistry; mineralogy; Petrology; greigite; mineral magnetics; sea-level changes; Holocene; Littorina transgression; geomorphology; pedology; cartography; climatology; meteorologi; Geophysics; Sedimentology; Optically Stimulated Luminescence OSL ; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; Physical geography;

    Abstract : A new palaeoenvironmental record of the post-glacial history of the southern Baltic Sea (~14 ka to present) is presented. During this period, large water level and salinity changes occurred in the Baltic Basin due to opening and closing of connections to the North Atlantic. READ MORE

  2. 7. Baltic shore-lands facing climate change

    Author : Alma Strandmark; Sara Cousins; Martin Entling; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arthropod diversity; Baltic shores; Beetles; Climate change; Energy flows; Marine inflow; Sea level rise; Shore ecosystems; Species distribution; Spiders; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Abstract : This thesis provides new insight concerning drivers behind differences in arthropod diversity and abundance in Baltic shore ecosystems and how the arthropod communities might be affected when the conditions in the Baltic Sea are altered due to climate change.  The focus has been on climate related changes that are unique for coastal ecosystems, especially sea level rise and changes in the inflow of marine nutrients. 3. 8. Study on the Earth’s Surface Mass Variations using Satellite Gravimetry Observations

    Author : Hadi Amin; Mohammad Bagherbandi; Lars Sjöberg; Faramarz Nilfouroushan; Martin Horwath; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geodetic reference system; geoid potential; global vertical datum; climate change; global warming; mass change; ice melting; sea-level change; remote sensing; satellite gravimetry; geodetiska referenssystem; geopotential; globala vertikala datum; klimatförändring; global uppvärmning; massförändring; issmältning; havsnivåförändring; fjärranalys; satellitgravimetri;

    Abstract : Our complex planet is continuously undergoing temporal and spatial changes. In this context, ongoing processes in the Earth subsystems (geosphere, biosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere) cause changes in the gravity field of the Earth across a wide range of temporal and spatial scales. 5. 10. Climate Change: Models, Metrics and Meaning Making

    Author : Erik Sterner; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Climate Science Literacy; Emission Metrics; Knowledge-Behavior Gap; Short-lived Climate Forcers; SF Failure; Integral Theory; Carbon Cycle; Sea Level Rise; Common Pool Resources; Resource Extraction;

    Abstract : This thesis, combining research in climate science and educational science, investigates different aspects of climate knowledge. It consists of five papers and covers three major topics: emission metrics, public understanding of atmospheric CO2 accumulation, and spatial modelling of natural resource use. READ MORE
