  1. 21. The Physical Environment and Occupant Thermal Perceptions in Office Buildings An Evaluation of Sampled Data from Five European Countries

    Author : John Leland Stoops; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal sensation; Europe; thermal preference; seasonal variation; office buildings; temperature perception; outdoor temperature; interior temperature; field study; thermal comfort; Clo; Met; carbon dioxide;

    Abstract : The results from a large field study of thermal comfort in European office buildings are reported. Measurements of physical environmental conditions and occupant perceptions were collected over sixteen months from twenty-six different office buildings located in France, Greece, Portugal, Sweden and the UK. 2. 22. Arctic clouds - interactions with radiation and thermodynamic structure

    Author : Joseph Sedlar; Michael Tjernström; Annica Ekman; Johannes Verlinde; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic; stratus; radiation; thermodynamic structure; cloud radiative forcing; seasonal transition; Meteorology; Meteorologi; atmosfärvetenskap; Atmospheric Sciences;

    Abstract : Clouds play in important role in the climate system through their interaction with radiation. Globally, clouds tend to cool the Earth by reflecting solar radiation and shading the surface. READ MORE

  3. 23. Genetic and experimental studies of seasonal affective disorder and related phenotypes

    Author : Carolina Johansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a subtype of recurrent depressive or bipolar disorder, in which episodes reoccur and remit during a particular season each year. A genetic component in vulnerability to winter SAD has been suggested, and the goal of this thesis was to increase the understanding of SAD and seasonal variations in mood, by obtaining self-report assessments of related traits, examining genetic variations in genes hypothesised to influence the phenotypes in question, and to investigate effects of different photoperiods and stress in an animal model. 4. 24. Structural variants in the great tit genome and their effect on seasonal timing

    Author : Vinicius Henrique da Silva; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The biodiversity of our planet has been increasingly endangered by human actions. This nature biodiversity is strictly correlated with genomic diversity of all the species in the ecosystem. READ MORE

  5. 25. Explaining temporal variations in soil respiration rates and delta13C in coniferous forest ecosystems

    Author : Daniel Comstedt; Alf Ekblad; Rolf Siegwolf; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Autotrophic; Boreal forest; Elevated CO2; 13C; Natural abundance of stable isotopes; Picea abies; PLS; Root respiration; Soil respiration; Biology; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : Soils of Northern Hemisphere forests contain a large part of the global terrestrial carbon (C) pool. Even small changes in this pool can have large impact on atmospheric [CO2] and the global climate. READ MORE
