1. Seated postural reactions to mechanical shocks : laboratory studies with relevance for risk assessment and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders among drivers
Abstract : Professional drivers of off-road vehicles, driving on irregular terrain such as in forestry, agriculture and mining, are exposed to whole-body vibration and mechanical shocks. These driver groups have reported severe musculoskeletal problems in the spine, but the association to seated postural reactions is not fully understood. READ MORE

2. Interaction between humans and car seats : studies of occupant seat adjustment, posture, position, and real world neck injuries in rear-end impacts
Abstract : Background: The latest generation of rear-end whiplash protection systems, as found in the WHIPS Volvo and SAHR Saab, have reduced injury rates by almost 50% in comparison with the previous generation of seat/head restraint systems. Occupant behaviour, such as seated posture and seat adjustment settings, may affect the injury risk. READ MORE

3. How Does it Feel and How is it measured? Assessing Sitting Comfort and Postures of Rear-Seated Car Passengers in Stationary and Driven Scenarios Over Time
Abstract : This licentiate thesis presents the results of an empirical study focused on examining the comparative effectiveness of short stationary studies versus long driving studies in evaluating sitting postures, belt fit, and sitting comfort in cars. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, in which 19 participants experienced two different test scenarios in the rear seat of a car: a stationary scenario within an indoor garage and a driven scenario on a predefined route in regular traffic, each lasting 45 minutes. 4. Female and Male Whole Spinal Alignment and Cervical Kinematic Responses in Rear Impacts
Abstract : The susceptibility of women to Whiplash Associated Disorders (WADs) has been the focus of numerous epidemiologic studies. Summarising the epidemiologic WAD studies, women were found to be at three times higher risk of sustaining WADs than men. READ MORE

5. Does spinal alignment influence car occupant responses? -The influence of variation in whole spinal alignment patterns on vertebral kinematics under rear impact conditions-
Abstract : The susceptibility of women to Whiplash Associated Disorders (WADs) has been the focus of numerous epidemiologic studies. Summarising the epidemiologic WAD studies, women were found to be subject to up to three times higher risk of sustaining WADs than men. READ MORE
