21. Secondary metabolites associated with plant disease, plant defense and biocontrol : studies of Hymenoscyphus pseudoalbidus, Fraxinus excelsior and Pseudomonas brassicacearum MA250
Abstract : Secondary metabolites of the fungal ash dieback pathogen Hymenoscyphus pseudoalbidus were investigated. Nine steroidal compounds were isolated from, or detected in, liquid cultures of the fungus. Three were the previously known compounds viridiol, viridin and demethoxyviridiol. READ MORE

22. Spatial patterns in the interaction between Salix triandra and associated parasites
Abstract : This thesis focuses on mechanisms and processes underlying spatial patterns of resistance and virulence and on local adaptations in plant–parasite interactions. The model system used comprises the plant host Salix triandra, the pathogenic rust fungus Melampsora amygdalinae, the leaf beetle Gonioctena linnaeana, and the galler Pontania triandrae. READ MORE

23. Bioactive Compounds in the Chemical Defence of Marine Sponges : Structure-Activity Relationships and Pharmacological Targets
Abstract : Marine invertebrates, in particular sponges, represent a source of a wide range of secondary metabolites, many of which have been attributed various defensive capabilities against environmental stress factors. In this thesis sponge-derived low-molecular peptide-like compounds and associated analogs are investigated for bioactivity and pharmacological targets. READ MORE

24. Structure and biosynthesis of fungal secondary metabolites : studies of the root rot pathogen Heterobasidion annosum s.l. and the biocontrol fungus Phlebiopsis gigantea
Abstract : The root rot pathogen Heterobasidion annosum s.l., i.e. READ MORE

25. An insight into the metabolism of New Psychoactive Substances : Structural elucidation of urinary metabolites of synthetic cannabinoids and fentanyl analogues using synthesized reference standards
Abstract : New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) is an umbrella term covering hundreds of substances across different drug groups. Many of these substances were originally developed for therapeutic use but have later appeared on the recreational drug market. READ MORE
