  1. 1. Signal Transduction of Glucagon Secretion

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Elaine Vieira; Erik Gylfe; Lena Eliasson; [2006]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell biology; secretion; glucagon; store-operated channels; calcium; diabetes; Cellbiologi; NATURAL SCIENCES Biology Cell and molecular biology Cell biology; NATURVETENSKAP Biologi Cell- och molekylärbiologi Cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Diabetes mellitus is a bihormonal disorder with hyperglycemia due to deficiency of insulin and hypersecretion of glucagon. To improve diabetes treatment it is important to clarify the signal transduction of glucagon secretion. READ MORE

  2. 2. Assembly and Secretion of Atherogenic Lipoproteins

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Caroline Beck; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2008]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; very low-density lipoprotein; apolipoprotein B100; B-cell receptor associated; microsomal triglyceride transfer protein; secretion; assembly;

    Abstract : The classical dyslipidemia seen in patients with type 2 diabetes is characterized by elevated serum triglycerides (TG), low levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and the appearance of small, dense low-density lipoproteins (LDL). It is now recognized that the different components of diabetic dyslipidemia are not isolated abnormalities but are closely linked to each other metabolically, and are initiated by the hepatic overproduction of large triglyceride-rich very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL1). 3. 3. The Duodenal Mucosal Bicarbonate Secretion Role of Melatonin in Neurohumoral Control and Cellular Signaling

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Markus Sjöblom; Gunnar Flemström; Olof Nylander; Karl EO Åkerman; Per M. Hellström; [2003]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Physiology; alkaline secretion; central nervous system; duodenal enterocyte; duodenal ulcer; duodenum; enterochromaffin cell; human; intraarterial; intracellular calcium; intracerebroventricular; melatonin; rat; vagal nerve; Fysiologi; MEDICINE Physiology and pharmacology Physiology; MEDICIN Fysiologi och farmakologi Fysiologi;

    Abstract : The duodenal lumen is exposed to aggressive factors with a high potential to cause damage to the mucosa. Bicarbonate secretion by the duodenal mucosa is accepted as the primary important defense mechanism against the hydrochloric acid intermittently expelled from the stomach. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cellular transport and secretion of the cyanobacterial neurotoxin BMAA into milk and egg Implications for developmental neurotoxicity

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Marie Andersson; Ingvar Brandt; Cynthia de Wit; [2015]
