  2. 2. Intestinal IgA synthesis: Localization and requirements for IgA class switch recombination

    Author : Peter Bergqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IgA; Intestine; Gut associated lymphoid tissue; class switch recombination; CD40; germ free;

    Abstract : Production of IgA at mucosal surfaces is one of the most striking features of the mucosal immune system. Despite that IgA was first discovered in the 1950’s and secretory IgA described in gut secretions and breast milk in the mid 1960’s we still have limited information about the sites and exact requirements for IgA class switch recombination. 3. 3. Regulation of gut IgA induction by helper T cells

    Author : Inta Gribonika; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mucosal immunology; secretory IgA; T regulatory cells; T follicular helper cells; Th17 cells; Peyer s patches; IgA class-switch recombination; germinal centers;

    Abstract : The gut is the largest lymphoid organ in the body. Due to intense and constant exposure to the outside world, it also functions as the most important portal of entry for many pathogens. READ MORE

  4. 4. Lactobacilli in the normal microbiota and probiotic effects of Lactobacillus plantarum

    Author : Elisabeth Lönnermark; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : lactobacillus; oral microbiota; gut microbiota; infants; adults; secretory IgA; IgA-deficiency; adherence; Lactobacillus plantarum; probiotics; antibiotics; salmonellosis; diarrhoea;

    Abstract : Lactobacilli colonise most adult individuals and are also frequently used as probiotics, i.e. bacteria which possibly have health promoting effects when ingested. In this thesis, the intestinal Lactobacillus microbiota was studied in longitudinally followed infants. READ MORE

  5. 5. Secretory Autoantibodies in Rheumatoid Arthritis

    Author : Karin Roos Ljungberg; Alf Kastbom; Anna Svärd; Klara Martinsson; Jonas Wetterö; Per-Johan Jakobsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Rheumatoid arthritis; Secretory autoantibodies; Immunoglobulins; Anti-citrullinated protein antibodies; ACPA; Mucosal immunity;

    Abstract : Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease in which autoantibodies, such as anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA), can be detected in the serum of patients. Autoantibodies may appear in the circulation years before clinical signs of joint inflammation occur, indicating that early immunological pathogenetic steps take place outside of the joints. READ MORE
