  1. 1. 3D Time-lapse Analysis of Seismic Reflection Data to Characterize the Reservoir at the Ketzin CO2 Storage Pilot Site

    Author : Fei Huang; Christopher Juhlin; Alireza Malehmir; Ari Tryggvason; Andy Chadwick; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CO2 storage; 3D Time-lapse 4D ; Reservoir characterization; Seismic simulation; Spectral decomposition; Wavelet phase; Tuning frequency; Thin-layer thickness; Seismic monitoring; Seismic processing; Quantitative interpretation; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : 3D time-lapse seismics, also known as 4D seismics, have great potential for monitoring the migration of CO2 at underground storage sites. This thesis focuses on time-lapse analysis of 3D seismic reflection data acquired at the Ketzin CO2 geological storage site in order to improve understanding of the reservoir and how CO2 migrates within it. Abstract : 3D seismic data are widely used for many different purposes. Despite different objectives, a common goal in almost all 3D seismic programs is to attain better understanding of the subsurface features. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantifying the Seismic Response of Underground Structures via Seismic Full Waveform Inversion : Experiences from Case Studies and Synthetic Benchmarks

    Author : Fengjiao Zhang; Christopher Juhlin; Ari Tryggvason; Yanghua Wang; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Seismic full waveform inversion (waveform tomography) is a method to reconstruct the underground velocity field in high resolution using seismic data. The method was first introduced during the 1980’s and became computationally feasible during the late 1990’s when the method was implemented in the frequency domain. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structural health monitoring using modern sensor technology : long-term monitoring of the New Årsta Railway Bridge

    Author : Merit Enckell; Håkan Sundqvist; Daniele Inaudi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Health Monitoring; bridges; sensory technology; fibre optics; concrete.; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is a helpful tool for engineers in order to control and verify the structural behaviour. SHM also guides the engineers and owners of structures in decision making concerning the maintenance, economy and safety of structures. READ MORE

  5. 5. 2D and 3D Seismic Surveying at the CO2SINK Project Site, Ketzin, Germany: The Potential for Imaging the Shallow Subsurface

    Author : Sawasdee Yordkayhun; Christopher Juhlin; Charlotte Krawczyk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inversion; Traveltime tomography; 3D seismic surveys; Seismic velocity; Seismic source; CO2SINK project; Geophysics; Geofysik;

    Abstract : Seismic traveltime inversion, traveltime tomography and seismic reflection techniques have been applied for two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) data acquired in conjunction with site characterization and monitoring aspects at a carbon dioxide (CO2) geological storage site at Ketzin, Germany (the CO2SINK project). Conventional seismic methods that focused on investigating the CO2 storage and caprock formations showed a poor or no image of the upper 150 m. READ MORE
