  1. 1. The concept concept in mathematics education : A concept analysis

    Author : Lotta Wedman; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; concept; mathematical concepts; concept analysis; co nceptual analysis; mathematics education; concept image; conception; schema; Utbildning och lärande; Education and Learning; concept; mathematical concepts; concept analysis; conceptual analysis; mathematics education; concept image; conception; schema;

    Abstract : The notion concept is used in different ways within the field of mathematics education. The aim of this study is to carry out a concept analysis of the notion concept, within some frequently used frameworks describing conceptual understanding. READ MORE

  2. 2. Regressor and Structure Selection : Uses of ANOVA in System Identification

    Author : Ingela Lind; Lennart Ljung; Torsten Söderström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; System identification; Regressor selection; Analysis of variance; Nonlinear systems; Structure selection; Automatic control; Reglerteknik;

    Abstract : Identification of nonlinear dynamical models of a black box nature involves both structure decisions (i.e., which regressors to use and the selection of a regressor function), and the estimation of the parameters involved. READ MORE

  3. 3. Talking talent : Narratives of youth sports selection

    Author : Magnus Kilger; Mats Börjesson; Rickard Jonsson; Mikael Quennerstedt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; talent; selection; talent in sports; narrative analysis; narrative genre; discourse; discursively shared narratives; positioning; Child and Youth Science; barn- och ungdomsvetenskap; Samhällsvetenskap Humaniora;

    Abstract : In sports, there seems to be an eternal interest in discovering young talents and refining them into elite adult athletes. The dilemma of selecting talent, while at the same time ensuring every child´s right to participate, needs to be addressed and have consequences in social practice. READ MORE

  4. 4. Pawsitive selection : Genetics of dog-human communication

    Author : Mia Persson; Per Jensen; Lina Roth; Dominic Wright; Ádám Miklósi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Through domestication and recent selection, dogs have evolved a unique set of communicative skills to attract and redirect human attention. These social skills have not been seen to the same extent in socialised wolves and are therefore believed to have a significant genetic basis. READ MORE

  5. 5. Runge–Kutta Time Step Selection for Flow Problems

    Author : Karl Hörnell; Per Lötstedt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Runge-Kutta; stepsize selection; optimization; flow problems; numerical analysis; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : Optimality is studied for Runge-Kutta iteration for solving steady-state and time dependent flow problems. For the former type an algorithm for determining locally optimal time steps is developed, based on the fact that the squared norm of the residual produced by an m-stage scheme is a 2m-degree polynomial, the coefficients of which can be computed from scalar products of Krylov subspace vectors.
