6. Behaviour under predation risk in birds
Abstract : Predation is a major selective force in the evolution of both morphological and behavioural characters in animals. The flexibility in behavioural traits according to perceived predation risk has received much attention in recent years. READ MORE

7. The ecology of the plankton fauna in the Gulf of Bothnia
Abstract : The geographical distribution of the Gulf of Bothnia zooplankton species is presented together with observations of abundancies and vertical distributions. The historical development of this plankton community in the last 70 years is discussed.Spring and summer development of the plankton fauna was studiedin the Bothnian Bay. READ MORE

8. Psychotropic Pharmaceuticals in Aquatic Systems: An Ecological Perspective
Abstract : Psychotropic pharmaceuticals have been shown to exert a variety of sublethal effects on non-target organisms, even at low concentrations found in the environment (ng/L to µg/L); hence, the aim of my research has been to determine the individual-level effects of psychotropic pharmaceuticals (the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors sertraline and fluoxetine, and the β-blocker propranolol) on behavioral and life history traits in freshwater organisms. Further, this research was directed towards assessing the potential large-scale impacts of these effects on population growth and predator-prey interactions (with community-level implications) via the application of traditional, ecological concepts and models. 9. The prey perspective - behaviour and appearance in a world of predators
Abstract : The varieties of prey phenotypes that have been revealed in nature are vast and many of these phenotypes are the result of the selective force that predators have had on prey traits in the past. Even within species and populations we see variations due to both differences in the selection forces they live under but also due to individual trait variation. READ MORE

10. Genetics and ecology of natural populations
Abstract : I have studied the genetic variation of single species using morphological variation and enzyme electrophoresis. I have striven to understand the interaction between the breeding structure and the ecology of the species in relation to the community, in which it lives. The work was done in the county of Västerbotten, northern Sweden. READ MORE
