  1. 1. NMR Self-Diffusion Studies and Stability Studies of Emulsions

    Author : Ingrid Lönnqvist; LTH Ingenjörshögskolan vid Campus Helsingborg; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coalescence; emulsion stability; size distribution; restricted diffusion; self-diffusion coefficient; self-diffusion PGSE NMR; surfactant; emulsifier; continuous phase; microemulsion; phase diagram; emulsion; multiple emulsion; cream; conductivity; Physics; Fysik; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The aim of this study is to characterize emulsion systems by self-diffusion PGSE NMR methods. The specifics of the emulsions studied are all taken from the literature and they are of the W/O or O/W type stabilized with different emulsifiers. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of water self-diffusion in porous systems

    Author : Daniel Topgaard; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diffusion diffraction; nonfreezing; anisotropy; tortuosity; cross relaxation; emulsion; starch; cellulose; porous material; water; NMR; self-diffusion; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was used to study the self-diffusion of water in porous systems that respond to a change in water content in order to elucidate the porous structure and the properties of the confined water. In the carbohydrate systems cellulose fibers and starch granules, water is free to move throughout the porous objects, albeit with a rate reduced from the value of the bulk liquid, The reduction is related to the tortuosity of the pore space filled by water. 3. 3. In vitro evaluation of formulations used in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma

    Author : Emelie Ahnfelt; Hans Lennernäs; Erik Sjögren; Niklas Axén; Jesper Østergaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Drug delivery system; Doxorubicin; Microgel; Emulsion; Hepatocellular carcinoma; Biofarmaci; Biopharmaceutics;

    Abstract : Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) causes ~ 600,000 deaths annually, making it the second most deadly cancer form. HCC is classified into five stages and for the intermediate HCC treatment, the two most commonly used drug delivery systems (DDSs) are lipiodol-based emulsions and drug-eluting beads. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cellulose Dissolution and Amphiphilicity : Insights on the Emulsion Formation and Stabilization

    Author : Carolina Costa; Magnus Norgren; Håkan Edlund; Orlando Rojas; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : An amphiphilic polymer is expected to adsorb at the oil-water interface and be capable of stabilizing emulsions. Cellulose derivatives, cellulose nanoparticles and regenerated cellulose particles show an intrinsic amphiphilic character by self-assembling at oil-water interfaces and stabilizing emulsions without the aid of surfactants or any other co-stabilizers. 5. 5. NMR studies of complex fluids and solids formed by surfactants

    Author : Niklas Hedin; KTH; []
    Keywords : CTAB; CTAC; decane; benzene; polysaccharide; micelle; microemulsion; self diffusion;

    Abstract : NMR methods have been designed and employed in studying ofcomplex liquids and solids formed by surfactants. PGSE NMRexperiments are easily biased by convection; this artifact canbe avoided by changing the sample holder and by usingconvection-compensated pulse sequences. READ MORE
