6. Cold compaction of composite powders
Abstract : Powder compaction is a production method commonly used in the manufacturing industry today. In order to minimize costly experiments and to optimize serial production of details several methods to analyze the powder compaction process are developed and used. READ MORE

7. Fracture mechanics analysis of damage initiation and evolution in fiber reinforced composites
Abstract : When a unidirectional (UD) fiber reinforced polymer composite is loaded in fiber direction in quasi-static or in a high stress cyclic tension-tension regime, many fiber breaks may occur in random positions already during the load increase in the first cycle. This is because fiber strain to failure in UD composites is lower than the polymer matrix strain to failure. READ MORE

8. Recruitment and distribution patterns of plants in Swedish semi-natural grasslands
Abstract : Semi-natural pastures with different histories of management are nowadays the main remnants of the traditional agrarian landscape in southern Sweden. The aims of this thesis were to investigate the importance of features of the present-day landscape and its management history for species distribution and abundance patterns in Swedish semi-natural pastures, with a particular focus on factors affecting recruitment processes. 9. Spark Ignition Combustion of Direct Injected Alternative Fuels
Abstract : Several technologies and modifications exist to increase the fuel efficiency of passenger vehicles in general and spark ignition engines in particular. Combining a spark ignition engine with an electric drive system in hybrid powertrain and thermodynamic cycle improvements are two such approaches with the potential to greatly reduce fuel consumption. 10. Phase Transitions in Large Oscillator Lattices
Abstract : This thesis deals with large networks of limit cycle oscillators. A limit cycle oscillator is a dynamical system that has a periodic attractor in phase space, and is defined in continuous time. To each such oscillator one can associate a natural frequency. READ MORE
