26. Optical Characterization of III-Nitride and II-V Semiconductor Nanowires
Abstract : The optical properties of III-V semiconductor nanowires for optical devices have been investigated by photoluminescence spectroscopy, cathodoluminescence spectroscopy and cathodoluminescence imaging. The material systems that have been studied include the nitrides (InN, GaN and AlN) and ternaries, and a few common phosphides and arsenides. READ MORE

27. Transport Studies of Local-Gate Defined Quantum Dots in Nanowires
Abstract : This thesis focuses on electrical transport in semiconductor InAs nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy. Initially, transport length scales of homogeneous InAs n-type nanowires are characterized by low-temperature magnetoconductance measurements. The measurements show phase-coherent conductivity corrections. READ MORE

28. Densities and Sizes of Self-assembled Quantum Dots Grown by MOVPE
Abstract : This thesis is based on results concerning the formation of semiconductor self-assembled quantum dots. The quantum dots have been grown by metal organic vapour phase epitaxy in the Stranski-Krastanow growth mode. READ MORE

29. Electron Transport in Semiconductor Nanowires
Abstract : In this thesis, semiconductor nanowires are studied from the point of view of growth and electrical properties. The growth of nanowires is done by chemical beam epitaxy (CBE), an ultra-high vacuum technique allowing a precise control of precursor deposition and low growth rates. READ MORE

30. Creation of a Nanometer-Scale Toolbox for Molecular Motor Transport-Circuits
Abstract : This thesis presents studies of molecular motors in interaction with nm-scale structures, as well as the development of a set of tools that can be used for the construction of custom-designed nano-transportation systems. In our studies, we have used the latest nanoscale technology and combined this with advanced results from chemistry and biomedical sciences. READ MORE
