  1. 1. Novel Technologies for Mode-Locking of Solid-State Lasers

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Niels Meiser; KTH.; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; laser; mode-locked laser; pulsed laser; quantum dot; carbon nanotube; nonlinear optics; saturable absorber; Kerr-lens mode-locking; ultra-fast laser; picosecond laser; pulsed laser; semiconductor saturable absorber;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis is the investigation of novel technologies for mode-locking of diode-pumped, solid-state lasers. Novel saturable absorbers are used: quantum dots (QDs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which both are low-dimensional nano-formations. In addition, mode-locking by cascaded nonlinearities is explored. 2. 2. Compact solid-state lasers in the near-infrard and visible spectral range

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Kai Seger; KTH.; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; volume Bragg gratings; single-longitudinal-mode laser; laser tuning; Q-switching; mode-locking; carbon nanotubes; semiconductor lasers; neodymium; ytterbium; nonlinear optics; KTP;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis is the exploration of new concepts for compact solid-state lasers in the visible and near-infrared spectral range using new components such as volume Bragg gratings for wavelength stabilisation and wavelength tuning. Also single-walled carbon nanotubes for mode-locking and Q-switching of lasers have been studied. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards Novel AlGaN-Based Light Emitters

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Martin Stattin; [2011]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AlGaN; light emitting diode; deep ultraviolet; III-Nitrides; near infrared; quantum cascade laser;

    Abstract : The unique properties of the AlGaN semiconductors make them a suitable choice for optoelectronic devices at both short and long wavelengths, based on interband and intersubband transitions, respectively. What sets AlGaN apart from other wide-bandgap semiconductors is the possibility to obtain both p- and n-type conductivity as well as the direct bandgap. READ MORE

  4. 4. Modeling Quantum Cascade Lasers : The Challenge of Infra-Red Devices

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Science, Department of Physics

    Author : Martin Franckie; [2016]

  5. 5. Photoluminescence Studies of Single Quantum Dots

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Science, Department of Physics

    Author : Nikolay Panev; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2004]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Stranski-Krastanow; photoluminescence; laser spectroscopy; antibunching; random telegraph noise; blinking; Physics; Fysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2004:Panev; solid immersion lens; quantum dots; low-dimensional structures;

    Abstract : This thesis presents photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy studies of single III-V semiconductor quantum dots (QDs). The electronic properties of the QDs, as well as, the dynamics of the processes taking part inside and in the surroundings of the QDs have been studied by single quantum dot photoluminescence spectroscopy, time resolved spectroscopy, and correlation spectroscopy.
