6. Design and Performance of Optically Pumped Semiconductor Disk Lasers with Wide Tuning Ranges
Abstract : In this work I present a strategy for providing the possibility to select the wavelength, or color, of a semiconductor laser over a very large range, by cleverly designing the vital part of the laser: the gain element of a so called optically pumped semiconductor disk laser. Optically pumped semiconductor disk lasers (OP-SDLs) are a relatively new class of lasers showing great promise for future applications. READ MORE

7. By Means of Beams : Laser Patterning and Stability in CIGS Thin Film Photovoltaics
Abstract : Solar irradiation is a vast and plentiful source of energy. The use of photovoltaic (PV) devices to convert solar energy directly to electrical energy is an elegant way of sustainable power generation which can be distributed or in large PV plants based on the need. READ MORE

8. Processing technologies for long-wavelength vertical-cavity lasers
Abstract : Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) areattractive as potential inexpensive high-performance emittersfor fibre-optical communication systems. Their surface-normalemission together with the small dimensions are beneficial forlow-cost fabrication since it allows on-wafer testing, simplified packaging and effective fibre-coupling. READ MORE

10. Optical Properties of Low Dimensional Semiconductor Materials
Abstract : This dissertation presents a serial study on optical properties of different semiconductor materials. Three main types of studies are addressed: The role of doping levels of N and Al atoms in the room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) of 4H-SiC films for optoelectronic applications; the use of a basic Monte Carlo method combined with probability calculations of the time-dependent Schroedinger equation to manifest multi-photon absorption and emission of II-VI compound quantum dots (QDs) for bioimaging; a theoretical quantum chemistry approach to study of structure and optical properties of InGaAsN and GaAs clusters for laser technology applications.
