  1. 1. Semiconductor Nanowires: Epitaxy and Applications

    Author : Thomas Mårtensson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; semiconductor; nanotechnology; nanowires; crystal growth; metal-organic vapour phase epitaxy; III-V; silicon; MOVPE; light-emitting diode; single-electron transistor; cell;

    Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires are nanoscale objects formed by bottom-up synthesis. In recent years their unique properties have been exploited in fields such as electronics, photonics, sensors and the life sciences. In this work, the epitaxial growth of nanowires and their applications were studied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Carrier dynamics in semiconductor quantum dots

    Author : Jörg Siegert; Ari Friberg; Jesper Mørk; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum dots; photoluminescence; time-resolved; spectroscopy; semiconductor; Optics; Optik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents results of time-resolved photoluminescence experiments conducted on several different self-assembled InGaAs/GaAs and InAs/GaAs semiconductor quantum dot (QD) structures. Depending on the application in mind, different structural, electronic or optical properties have a different weight of importance. READ MORE

  3. 3. Optical Properties of Low Dimensional Semiconductor Materials

    Author : Tiantian Han; Ying Fu; Per-Olof Holtz; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Semiconductor; Low dimensional; optics; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents a serial study on optical properties of different semiconductor materials. Three main types of studies are addressed: The role of doping levels of N and Al atoms in the room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) of 4H-SiC films for optoelectronic applications; the use of a basic Monte Carlo method combined with probability calculations of the time-dependent Schroedinger equation to manifest multi-photon absorption and emission of II-VI compound quantum dots (QDs) for bioimaging; a theoretical quantum chemistry approach to study of structure and optical properties of InGaAsN and GaAs clusters for laser technology applications. 4. 4. Plasma assisted low temperature semiconductor wafer bonding

    Author : Donato Pasquariello; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Materials science; Wafer Bonding; Oxygen Plasma; InP; Si; Semiconductor; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; materialvetenskap; Materials Science;

    Abstract : Direct semiconductor wafer bonding has emerged as a technology to meet the demand foradditional flexibility in materials integration. The applications are found in microelectronics, optoelectronics and micromechanics. For instance, wafer bonding is used to produce silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafers. READ MORE
