  1. 11. Security and Privacy of Sensitive Data in Cloud Computing

    Author : Ali Gholami; Erwin Laure; Seif Haridi; Schahram Dustdar; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cloud Computing; Security; Privacy; Trust; Opertaing System; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Abstract : Cloud computing offers the prospect of on-demand, elastic computing, provided as a utility service, and it is revolutionizing many domains of computing. Compared with earlier methods of processing data, cloud computing environments provide significant benefits, such as the availability of automated tools to assemble, connect, configure and reconfigure virtualized resources on demand. 2. 12. Mid- and near-infrared NICE-OHMS : techniques for ultra-sensitive detection of molecules in gas phase

    Author : Thomas Hausmaninger; Ove Axner; Kyle Crabtree; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spectrometry; NICE-OHMS; trace gas detection; acetylene; methane; isotopologues; near-infrared; mid-infrared; shot-noise; optical parametric oscillator; teknisk fysik med inriktningen mikrosystemteknik; engineering science with specialization in microsystems technology;

    Abstract : Noise-immune cavity-enhanced optical heterodyne molecular spectrometry (NICE-OHMS) is a technique for ultra-sensitive detection of molecular absorption and dispersion. For highest performance, the technique combines cavity enhancement (CE) with frequency modulation (FM); while the former increases the effective interaction length between the light and the analyte by several orders of magnitudes, the latter removes the in-coupling of 1/f noise and makes the signals background free. 3. 13. Benthic metabolism and sediment nitrogen cycling in Baltic sea coastal areas : the role of eutrophication, hypoxia and bioturbation

    Author : Stefano Bonaglia; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Eutrophication; Sediment; Benthic Flux; Nitrogen Cycle; Denitrification; Baltic Sea; Biogeochemistry; biogeokemi; marin- och brackvattensekologi; Marine and Brackish Water Ecology; Marine Ecology; marin ekologi; geokemi; Geochemistry;

    Abstract : Eutrophication is one of the greatest threats for the Baltic Sea, and one of its more critical consequences is bottom water hypoxia. Nutrient enrichment and oxygen-depletion affect both the deep central basins and a number of coastal areas, even though strategies for nutrient reduction have lately been implemented. READ MORE

  4. 14. Use of affordable technology for the sensitive and specific diagnosis of onchocerciasis (river blindness)

    Author : Gabriel Eduardo Guzmán Laparra; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Onchocerciasis or river blindness is the most common infectious cause of blindness. Even in the absence of blindness, the skin effects caused are of social stigma. It is the goal of the World Health Organization to eradicate filariasis (including onchocerciasis). READ MORE

  5. 15. Valuation of goods transportation characteristics : A study of a sparsely populated area

    Author : Kerstin Westin; Einar Holm; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Just-In-Time; Goods transportation; Sparsely populated areas; Social and Economic Geography; kulturgeografi;

    Abstract : This study describes how consumers and providers of transportation services in a sparsely populated area valuate different transportation characteristics and estimates how these valuations might affect the total goods flows and the flows on individual Origin-Destination links. It also tests Stated-Preference methods as a tool for valuating transportation characteristics. READ MORE
