  1. 1. Development of shape optimization for internal flows

    Author : EYSTEINN HELGASON; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; internal flow; computational fluid dynamics; sensitivities; continuous adjoint method.; optimization;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development of an adjoint based optimizationmethod.The goal is to develop a robust method capable of handling multipledesign variables, whereastraditional methods have shown to be too costly for many design parameters.The main application is for internal flow geometries within theautomotive industry. 2. 2. Microwave Measurement Systems for Parameter Estimation and Classification

    Author : JOHAN WINGES; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; microcrystalline cellulose; parameter estimation; sensitivities; microwave measurements; finite element method; gradient-based optimization; permittivity;

    Abstract : Microwave measurement systems are attractive for diagnostics and monitoring purposes in a number of important applications. For example, the strong interaction between microwaves and water make microwaves well-suited for moisture measurements. READ MORE

  3. 3. Notch sensitivity and bridging laws in glass mat composites

    Author : Johan Lindhagen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Abstract : The fracture behaviour of polymeric random glass mat reinforced composites was investigated. Such materials exhibit very large damage zones with fibre bridging. The damage zone sizes are often comparable with the specimen dimensions, which precludes the use of linear elastic frac-ture mechanics (LEFM). READ MORE

  4. 4. Accuracy and reproducibility in phase contrast magnetic resonance imaging

    Author : Per Thunberg; Freddy Ståhlberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging modality which provides good conditions for studies of flow and motion in the cardiovascular system. When using the phase contrast imaging technique, it is possible to perform velocity measurements in moving tissues and in blood. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Skorohod problem and weak approximation of stochastic differential equations in time-dependent domains

    Author : Thomas Önskog; Kaj Nyström; Leif Persson; Johan Tysk; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Skorohod problem; weak approximation; time-dependent domain; stochastic differential equations; parabolic partial differential equations; oblique reflection; stopped diffusions; Euler scheme; adaptive methods; sensitivity analysis; financial derivatives; Greeks ; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK; Mathematics; matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of a summary and four scientific articles. All four articles consider various aspects of stochastic differential equations and the purpose of the summary is to provide an introduction to this subject and to supply the notions required in order to fully understand the articles.
