1. Design, Synthesis and Properties of Organic Sensitizers for Dye Sensitized Solar Cells
Abstract : This thesis gives a detailed description of the design and synthesis of new organic sensitizers for Dye sensitized Solar Cells (DSCs). It is divided in 7 chapters, where the first gives an introduction to the field of DSCs and the synthesis of organic sensitizers. READ MORE

2. Interactions in Dye-sensitized Solar Cells
Abstract : The interactions between the molecular constituents in dye-sensitized solar cells were studied with UV-VIS and IR spectroscopy, Raman scattering, conductivity and electron accumulation measurements. From stability studies of the dye, bis(tetrabutylammonium)cis-bis(thiocyanato) bis(2,2’-bipyridine-4-carboxylic acid, 4’-carboxylate) ruthenium(II), in the complete solar cell, the thiocyanate ion ligand was found to be lost from the dye. 3. Characterization of dye-sensitized solar cells : Components for environmentally friendly photovoltaics
Abstract : As fossil fuels, the major source of energy used today, create the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide which causes global warming, alternative energy sources are necessary in the future. There is a need for different types of renewable energy sources such as hydropower, windpower, wave- power and photovoltaics since different parts of the world have different possibilities. READ MORE

4. Exploring Dye-Sensitized Mesoporous NiO Photocathodes : from Mechanism to Applications
Abstract : Increasing attention has been paid on solar energy conversion since the abundant solar energy possesses the potential to solve the problems on energy crisis and climate change. Dye-sensitized mesoporous NiO film was developed as one of the attractive photocathodes to fabricate p-type dye-sensitized solar cells (p-DSCs) and dye-sensitized photoelectrosynthetic cells (p-DSPECs) for electricity and chemical fuels generation, respectively. 5. Photoelectrochemical studies of dye-sensitized solar cells using organic dyes
Abstract : The dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) is a promising efficient low-cost molecular photovoltaic device. One of the key components in DSCs is the dye, as it is responsible for the capture of sunlight. State-of-the-art DSC devices, based on ruthenium dyes, show record efficiencies of 10-12 %. READ MORE
