1. Innovative Contact Free Sensors for Metallurgical Process Control
Abstract : The steel- and metal industry has an extensive production processing comprising many different process steps of solid, gaseous and liquid nature. Thus it is obvious that a number of different measurement technologies must be used to collect and evaluate key physical parameters which are necessary to control the production processes. READ MORE

2. Modular textile-enabled bioimpedance system for personalized health monitoring applications
Abstract : A growing number of factors, including costs, technological advancements, ageing populations, and medical errors, are leading industrialized countries to invest in research on alternative solutions to improve their health-care systems and increase patients’ quality of life. Personal health systems (PHS) examplify the use of information and communication technologies that enable a paradigm shift from the traditional hospital-centered healthcare delivery model toward a preventive and person-centered approach. 4. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications
Abstract : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly. 5. Nano- and Micro-sized Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Particles on Solid Surfaces
Abstract : Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are artificial receptors made by imprinting template molecules in a polymer matrix followed by their removal through washing to obtain a specific and selective template cavities. This property of the MIPs have made them a very efficient material for diverse applications such as chromatography, purification, drug sensing, etc. READ MORE
