  1. 1. Innovative Contact Free Sensors for Metallurgical Process Control

    Author : Donald Malmberg; Stuart M. Millman; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microwave spectroscopy; laser; TDLAS; high temperature; gas; slag; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; spectroscopy; slag analysis; high temperatures; Mät- och instrumenteringsteknik; Instrumentation technology; TDLAS; microwave; laser; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Malmberg;

    Abstract : The steel- and metal industry has an extensive production processing comprising many different process steps of solid, gaseous and liquid nature. Thus it is obvious that a number of different measurement technologies must be used to collect and evaluate key physical parameters which are necessary to control the production processes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modular textile-enabled bioimpedance system for personalized health monitoring applications

    Author : Javier Ferreira; Fernando Seoane; Kaj Lindecrantz; Orjan Grottem Martinsen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; personal healthcare system; electrical bioimpedance; wearable sensors; pervasive monitoring; portable monitoring; body composition; chronic kidney disease; wireless sensor; ubiquitous; instrumentation; Technology and Health; Teknik och hälsa;

    Abstract : A growing number of factors, including costs, technological advancements, ageing populations, and medical errors, are leading industrialized countries to invest in research on alternative solutions to improve their health-care systems and increase patients’ quality of life. Personal health systems (PHS) examplify the use of information and communication technologies that enable a paradigm shift from the traditional hospital-centered healthcare delivery model toward a preventive and person-centered approach. 3. 3. New Instrumentation for Forensic Applications : Automatic Fiber Detection and Breath Alcohol Measurements

    Author : Nils Paulsson; Peter Wide; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Two forensic instruments have been developed and evaluated with respect to basic characteristics. One instrument is used for automatic fiber detection and the other for breath alcohol measurement. READ MORE

  4. 4. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications

    Author : Kiryl Kustanovich; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IDE; Resonator; SH-SAW; Impedance Spectroscopy; Surface Acoustic Wave; PDMS; LiNbO3; Microfluidics; Sensor;

    Abstract : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly. 5. 5. Nano- and Micro-sized Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Particles on Solid Surfaces

    Author : Tripta Kamra; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are artificial receptors made by imprinting template molecules in a polymer matrix followed by their removal through washing to obtain a specific and selective template cavities. This property of the MIPs have made them a very efficient material for diverse applications such as chromatography, purification, drug sensing, etc. READ MORE
