  1. 11. High intensity and high gradient magnetic separation in mineral processing

    Author : Jan A. Jirestig; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : Natural minerals often lack well defined magnetic susceptibilities. Instead they must be thought of as occurring in a susceptibility range where the bulk susceptibility is affected by present impurities. Inclusions or foreign atoms in solid solution may alter a materials magnetic properties to a large extent. READ MORE

  2. 12. Functional Properties and Morphology of Recycled Post-consumer WEEE Thermoplastic Blends

    Author : Erik Stenvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; morphology; melt-blending; compatibilisation; extrusion; SEBS; WEEE; physical ageing; TOF-SIMS; co-continuous; chemical degradation; plastics recycling;

    Abstract : This work concerns a waste electrical and electronic equipment blend of recycled plastics (WEEEBR), reprocessed from a low density thermoplastics batch (600 kg) by removal of non-thermoplastic contamination (1.2 weight % (wt%)). READ MORE

  3. 13. Process water geochemistry and interactions with magnetite at the Kiirunavaara iron mine, northern Sweden

    Author : Magnus Westerstrand; Lars Lövgren; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : Current global estimates indicate that ca. 2400 million tonnes of iron is produced annually, most of which is used to make steel. Due to the associated costs, environmental challenges and energy consumption, steel is one of the world’s most intensively recycled materials. For example, about 98 % of structural steel is recycled in the USA. READ MORE

  4. 14. A Study on Particle Motion and Deposition Rate : Application in Steel Flows

    Author : Peiyuan Ni; Pär Jönsson; Lage Jonsson; Mikael Ersson; Stein Tore Johansson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; steel flow; ladle teeming; continuous casting; non-metallic inclusion behavior; particle deposition; nozzle clogging; numerical simulation.;

    Abstract : Non-metallic inclusions in molten steel have received worldwide attention due to their serious influence on both the steel product quality and the steel production process. These inclusions may come from the de-oxidation process, the re-oxidation by air and/or slag due to an entrainment during steel transfer, and so on. READ MORE

  5. 15. Inclusion Behaviour under a Swirl Flow in a Continuous Casting Process

    Author : Yang Ying; Pär Jönsson; Dong-Yuan Sheng; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inclusion behaviour; swirl flow; rotating magnetic field; electromagnetic swirl flow generator; full type; half type; submerged entry no zzle; mold;

    Abstract : A swirl flow generated in a submerged entry nozzle (SEN) can effectively improve a flow pattern and heat transfer in a continuous casting process by using the methods of “swirl blade type” and “electromagnetic type”. In order to obtain a further in-depth understanding with respect to the effect of a swirl flow on a continuous casting process, the inclusion behaviour in a SEN and a mold was studied in the present work.
