  1. 1. Segmenting and Tagging Text with Neural Networks

    Author : Yan Shao; Joakim Nivre; Jörg Tiedemann; Christian Hardmeier; Yue Zhang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; neural networks; sequence labelling; multilinguality; word segmentation; sentence segmentation; morpheme segmentation; transliteration; joint word segmentation and POS tagging;

    Abstract : Segmentation and tagging of text are important preprocessing steps for higher-level natural language processing tasks. In this thesis, we apply a sequence labelling framework based on neural networks to various segmentation and tagging tasks, including sentence segmentation, word segmentation, morpheme segmentation, joint word segmentation and part-of-speech tagging, and named entity transliteration. 2. 2. Structure and Dynamics of the Hepatitis B Virus Encapsidation Signal Revealed by NMR Spectroscopy

    Author : Sara Flodell; Stephan Grzesiek; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HBV; RNA; isotope labelling; NMR; structure determination; medicinsk biokemi; Medical Biochemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the study of the three-dimensional structure and dynamics of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) encapsidation signal, epsilon, by means of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mutational data. HBV replicates by reverse transcription of an RNA pregenome into the viral DNA genome, which becomes enclosed in viral particles (encapsidation). READ MORE

  3. 3. Development of central catecholaminergic neuronal systems in the lizard Anolis sagrei

    Author : Agneta Rehn; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; double labelling; immunohistochemistry; interplexiform cells; amacrine cells; catecholamines; development; retina; Reptiles; brain; Zoology; Zoologi;

    Abstract : Catecholamines, comprising the neurotransmitters dopamine (DA), noradrenaline (NA) and adrenaline (A) are synthesized by specific enzymes (tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), dopamine ß-hydroxylase (DBH), phenylethanolamine-N-methyltransferase (PNMT)) in the central nervous system. The development and distribution of different catecholaminergic systems have been described in both the brain and retina of the lizard Anolis sagrei. READ MORE

  4. 4. Membrane protein proteomics - Novel method for membrane protein identification and quantification

    Author : Maria Bentz; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biokemisk teknik; mebran; steroider; Lipider; membranes; steroids; Lipids; enzymologi; Proteiner; Membrane proteins; Proteomics; Proteinase K; N-terminal labelling; Relative Quantitation; Database search; Cancer; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer; enzymology; Proteins; Biochemical technology;

    Abstract : Membrane proteins are fairly refractory to digestion especially by trypsin. Less specific proteases like elastase and pepsin are much more effective. However database searching using non-tryptic peptides is much less effective due to the lack of charge localisation at the N- and C-termini and the absence of sequence specificity. READ MORE

  5. 5. Molecular Imaging of HER2 Expression using Synthetic Affibody Molecules : Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation

    Author : Thuy Tran; Vladimir Tolmachev; Uwe Haberkorn; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Biomedical Radiation Science; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap;

    Abstract : Molecular imaging is an emerging multidisciplinary field that addresses the visualisation of diseases at the cellular and molecular levels. This thesis focuses on the development of a synthetic Affibody molecule-based imaging tracer for the detection of HER2 expression in malignant tumours. READ MORE
