  1. 1. Alternative techniques in trochanteric hip fracture surgery. Clinical and biomechanical studies on the Medoff sliding plate and the Twin hook

    Author : Ola Olsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ortopedi; Kirurgi; traumatology; hip fracture; trochanteric; internal fixation; radiography; randomised trial; complication; biomechanics; orthopaedics; Surgery; traumatologi;

    Abstract : In allowing compression along the femoral shaft (uniaxial dynamization) and optional compression along the femoral neck (biaxial dynamization), the Medoff sliding plate (MSP) represents a new principle in the fixation of trochanteric hip fractures. The Twin hook with 2 apical hooks was designed as an alternative to the lag screw. READ MORE

  2. 2. Nonlinear Isoviscous Behaviour of Compliant Journal Bearings

    Author : Matthew Cha; Sergei Glavatskih; Ilmar Santos; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Compliant Journal Bearings;

    Abstract : Plans to shut down nuclear power plants in some European countries as well as increased electricity production by wind and solar power will increase the work load on hydroelectric power plants in the future. Also, due to the power grid regulations, hydroelectric power plants undergo more frequent start-ups and shut-downs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dynamic fixation of unstable trochanteric hip fractures. A clinical and radiographic evaluation of the Medoff sliding plate

    Author : Karl Lunsjö; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; Surgery; Radiography.; Implants; Hip fractures; Trochanteric; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : In stabilising extracapsular hip fractures, the Medoff sliding plate (MSP) differs from other screw-plates by its compression capacity along the femoral shaft (uniaxial dynamization). Additional compression along the neck of femur can be achieved by primary release of the lag screw (biaxial dynamization). READ MORE

  4. 4. Drive train system dynamic analysis; Application to wind turbines

    Author : Saeed Asadi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wind turbine drive train dynamics; Model validation; Global sensitivity analysis; Bearing defects detection;

    Abstract : To facilitate the design and production of highly efficient and reliable wind turbine drive trains, the project deals with the mathematical modelling and experimental study of drive train system dynamics.A typical drive train is considered as the subsystem of a wind turbine that transfers mechanical power from the rotor hub to the generator, and thereby plays an important role in the system dynamics and efficiency of wind turbine operation. 5. 5. Sustainable performance of wet clutch systems

    Author : Kim Berglund; Rikard Mäki; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : In industry today there are increasing demands not only on product performance, but also on environmental performance. In striving to develop high performance environmentally adapted products, optimization of product life is a central issue. READ MORE
