  1. 1. Shear and Torsion Interaction in Prestressed Hollow Core Slabs

    Author : Helén Broo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; shear-torsion capacity; hollow core unit; shear and torsion interaction; non-linear finite element analyses; hollow core slab; precast prestressed concrete; hollow core floor;

    Abstract : There are many applications in which hollow core units are subjected to combined torsion and shear, for example in floors supported on three edges and in floors with openings. The traditional calculation method for combined shear and torsion in hollow-core units adds stresses from various sources without taking into account deformations and compatibility within the unit or restraint at the boundaries. 2. 2. Influence of combined thermal and mechanical loadings on pearlitic steel microstructure in railway wheels and rails

    Author : Dimitrios Nikas; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low cycle fatigue LCF ; Wheel steels; Hardness; TEM; Thermal effects; EBSD; Rail steels; Pearlite; Multiaxial fatigue; Spheroidisation; Materials Science;

    Abstract : One of the most important aspects in railway operation is the interaction between rail and wheel. The contact patch between these two components is around the size of a small coin, and since high loads act on this small area, stresses will give rise to wear and damage in both components. 3. 3. Anisotropy in pearlitic steel subjected to rolling contact fatigue - modelling and experiments

    Author : NASIM LARIJANI; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pearlitic steel; crack propagation; Rolling Contact Fatigue; Anisotropy; plasticity; High Pressure Torsion;

    Abstract : In rails and wheels subjected to severe rolling/sliding contact, large plastic deformations accumulate in the surface layer. This decreases the fatigue resistance of components and makes this layer prone to formation of common rolling contact related defects. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ductility in high performance concrete structures : an experimental investigation and a theoretical study of prestressed hollow core slabs and prestressed cylindrical poles

    Author : Henrik Gabrielsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The thesis presents results from a project dealing with ductility in high performance concrete structures. The main objectives were to investigate the material and structural ductility/brittleness of prestressed structural elements of High Performance Concrete (HPC). READ MORE
