  1. 6. Measurements for improvement of running capacity. : Physiological and biomechanical evaluations

    Author : Lennart Gullstrand; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Running economy; treadmill; track running; measurement methods;

    Abstract : Introduction: Running is included in a large number of sports and one of the most well investigated modes of locomotion in both physiology and biomechanics. This thesis focuses on how some new methods from both areas may be used to capture running capacity in mid-distance and distance running from laboratory and field recordings. READ MORE

  2. 7. Analysis of the Performance of Different V2F Turbulence Models in a Stator Vane Passage Flow

    Author : Andreas Sveningsson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat transfer; RANS; realizability; V2F; stator flow;

    Abstract : When designing the cooling system of modern gas turbines it is important to be able to predict the heat transfer from the hot gas to the walls surrounding the gas path. One flow feature making this rather complicated is the presence of secondary, three-dimensional flow structures, often referred to as horse shoe vortices, which greatly enhance the rate of heat transfer to the endwall, especially in the leading edge region. 3. 8. Wearable Pedobarography System for Monitoring of Walk Related Parameters

    Author : Per Anders Rickard Hellström; Mia Folke; Martin Ekström; Ning Xiong; Helena Grip; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; elektronik; Electronics;

    Abstract : Health care costs have increased over the last decades due to an ageing population. Therefore, research in personal health monitoring (PHM) has increased in response to this. READ MORE

  4. 9. Fashion-able. Hacktivism and engaged fashion design

    Author : Otto Von Busch; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : Fashion Design; Hacktivism; Hacking; Heresy; Small Change; Professional-Amateurs; Do-it-yourself; Action Spaces; Artistic Research; Practice-based research;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of a series of extensive projects which aim to explore a new designer role for fashion. It is a role that experiments with how fashion can be reverse engineered, hacked, tuned and shared among many participants as a form of social activism. This social design practice can be called the hacktivism of fashion. READ MORE

  5. 10. On the System Optimization of Magnetic Circuit with Alternative Permanent Magnets and its Demagnetization

    Author : Jonathan Sjölund; Sandra Eriksson; Leijon Mats; Sami Ruoho; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Permanent magnet machines; Finite element method; ferrite permanent magnets; linear machines; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Abstract : Permanent magnet (PM) machines are often associated with the usage of rare earth magnets, due to their high energy density. One such rare earth magnet is the neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB), which is mainly produced in China. Due to the global scarcity of the rare earth magnets, much interest is put into utilizing other permanent magnet materials. READ MORE
