  1. 1. Pedestrian Shoulder and Spine Kinematics and their Influence on Head Kinematics

    Author : Ruth Paas; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PMHS; THUMS; kinematics; spine; head; shoulder; Human Body Model; pedestrian accidents; pedestrian;

    Abstract : Pedestrian to vehicle crashes still represent a major health issue worldwide. In order to prevent fatalities and injuries during the in-crash phase of a pedestrian accident, a sound understanding of pedestrian in-crash kinematics is required and Human Body Models (HBMs) are valuable tools when studying such kinematics. 2. 2. A New Shoulder for the THOR Dummy Intended for Oblique Collisions

    Author : Fredrik Törnvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Shoulder; Shoulder range-of-motion; Volunteers; Kinematics; Biofidelity; Post Mortem Human Subjects; THOR; Crash test dummy; Oblique collision;

    Abstract : Offset and oblique frontal car collisions represent a type of crash in which severe and fatal injuries frequently occur. This indicates the importance of having protective systems in vehicles for these types of collisions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Head kinematics in car–pedestrian crashes: The influence of sliding, spine bending, elbow and shoulder impacts

    Author : Ruth Paas; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Human Body Model; shoulder; kinematics; pedestrian; THUMS; spine; PMHS; head;

    Abstract : In vehicle–pedestrian crashes, head injuries account for an overwhelming percentage of all severe and fatal injuries. These injuries are caused by the linear acceleration and rotation of the head. To mitigate head injuries, tools such as Human Body Models (HBMs) are used in the development and evaluation of pedestrian safety systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Shoulder Kinematics and Impingement. Dynamic Radiostereometric analysis of the shoulder

    Author : Erling Hallström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Shoulder kinematics; Radiostereometry; Impingement; Open surgery; Arthroscopic surgery; Physiotherapy; Clinical outcome;

    Abstract : Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the three-dimensional kinematics of the shoulder joint in patients with shoulder impingement and controls with focus on three well known diagnostic tests; painful arc test (active abduction), Neer sign (passive elevation) and Hawkins sign. The shoulder rhythm, the speed of motion and if successful treatment of impingement could be associated with changes of the shoulder kinematics were studied Dynamic radiostereometry (RSA) is feasible method to study rotations and translations of the gleonohumeral joint because of its high precision. 5. 5. Evaluation of Shoulder-Complex Motion in Frontal and Oblique Impact Loadings - A Comparison between Frontal Impact Dummies and the Human Body

    Author : Fredrik Törnvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sled tests; Cadaver; Volunteers; Kinematics; Hybrid III; Static loading; Shoulder range-of-motion; Offset frontal collision; THOR; Shoulder; Biofidelity; Oblique frontal collision; Crash test dummy; Post Mortem Human Subjects PMHS ;

    Abstract : Offset and angled frontal impacts represent a crash type that is more common than full-frontal collisions. Several studies have shown that over 70% of all frontal impacts are offset or oblique. READ MORE
