1. Thermal Isomerization of Azobenzene Side Chain Copolymers
Abstract : Irradiation of azobenzene induces isomerization between its trans- and cis forms. By introduction of azobenzene chromophores in polymers, it is possible to optically control a variety of polymer properties. The isomerization of azobenzene can be used to influence conformational, optical or surface properties of the poly mer material. READ MORE

2. Side-chain oxidized oxysterols as metabolic regulators in vivo
Abstract : Oxysterols are oxygenated derivatives of cholesterol characterized by a very short half- life and their ability to pass lipophilic membranes easily, and they are considered as important intermediates in the excretion pathways of cholesterol and its conversion to bile acids. Evidence has been presented that the production and flux of oxysterols in the brain may also be of some importance for cognitive functions. READ MORE

3. Chiral Liquid Crystalline Side-Chain Polymers. Design, Synthesis and Properties
Abstract : The potential use of chiral liquid crystalline materials, low molar mass as well as polymers, in technical applications has been recognized for some decades now. A number of interesting phenomena based on the spontaneous ordering of the liquid crystal forming molecules are strong reasons for the research effort in this area. READ MORE

4. Side-chain oxidized oxysterols as metabolic regulators in liver and brain
Abstract : Oxysterols are oxygenated derivatives of cholesterol characterized by a very short half-life and their ability to pass lipophilic membranes easily, thus they are considered as important intermediates in cholesterol excretion pathways and its conversion to bile acids. The two major oxysterols in the circulation of human and mouse are 24S-hydroxycholesterol (24S-OH) and 27-hydroxycholesterol (27-OH), which are formed by the cytochrome P450 enzymes cholesterol 24-hydroxylase (CYP46A1) and sterol 27-hydroxylase (CYP27A1), respectively. 5. Amino acid sequence and side chain specific synthetic receptors targeting protein phosphorylation
Abstract : Antibodies have become a critical component of many diagnostic assays and are used for therapeutic purposes. Nevertheless they often fail to meet the strict performance demands raised in industry and in the clinic (e.g. stability, reproducibility, selectivity, affinity). READ MORE
