  1. 1. On the Utility of Representation Learning Algorithms for Myoelectric Interfacing

    Author : Alexander Olsson; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EMG; Machine Learning; Deep Learning; Feature Learning; Biosignal Processing; Gesture Recognition; Muscle-Computer Interfaces; Myoelectric Control; Upper-Limb Prosthetics;

    Abstract : Electrical activity produced by muscles during voluntary movement is a reflection of the firing patterns of relevant motor neurons and, by extension, the latent motor intent driving the movement. Once transduced via electromyography (EMG) and converted into digital form, this activity can be processed to provide an estimate of the original motor intent and is as such a feasible basis for non-invasive efferent neural interfacing. 2. 2. Adaptive signal processing of surface electromyogram signals

    Author : Nils Östlund; Stefan Karlsson; Jun Yu; Björn Gerdle; Leif Sörnmo; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Signalbehandling; electromyography; signal processing; Signalbehandling; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Abstract : Electromyography is the study of muscle function through the electrical signals from the muscles. In surface electromyography the electrical signal is detected on the skin. The signal arises from ion exchanges across the muscle fibres’ membranes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Spatio-temporal processing of surface electromyographic signals : information on neuromuscular function and control

    Author : Christer Grönlund; Leif Sörnmo; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EMG; multichannel surface electromyography; motor unit action potentials; conduction velocity; muscle architecture; signal quality; spatial distributions; synchronization; muscle function; motor control; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Abstract : During muscle contraction, electrical signals are generated by the muscle cells. The analysis of those signals is called electromyography (EMG). The EMG signal is mainly determined by physiological factors including so called central factors (central nervous system origin) and peripheral factors (muscle tissue origin). READ MORE

  4. 4. Proposing Combined Approaches to Remove ECG Artifacts from Surface EMG Signals

    Author : Sara Abbaspour; Maria Lindén; Urban Wiklund; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Electromyography (EMG) is a tool routinely used for a variety of applications in a very large breadth of disciplines. However, this signal is inevitably contaminated by various artifacts originated from different sources. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electromyogram Signal Enhancement and Upper-Limb Myoelectric Pattern Recognition

    Author : Sara Abbaspour; Maria Lindén; Christian Antfolk; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; elektronik; Electronics;

    Abstract : Losing a limb causes difficulties in our daily life. To regain the ability to live an independent life, artificial limbs have been developed. Hand prostheses belong to a group of artificial limbs that can be controlled by the user through the activity of the remnant muscles above the amputation. READ MORE
