1. Signal Processing for Spectroscopic Applications
Abstract : Spectroscopic techniques allow for studies of materials and organisms on the atomic and molecular level. Examples of such techniques are nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy—one of the principal techniques to obtain physical, chemical, electronic and structural information about molecules—and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)—an important medical imaging technique for, e. 2. The PET sampling puzzle : intelligent data sampling methods for positron emission tomography
Abstract : Much like a backwards computed Sudoku puzzle, starting from the completed number grid and working ones way down to a partially completed grid without damaging the route back to the full unique solution, this thesis tackles the challenges behind setting up a number puzzle in the context of biomedical imaging. By leveraging sparse signal processing theory, we study the means of practical undersampling of positron emission tomography (PET) measurements, an imaging modality in nuclear medicine that visualises functional processes within the body using radioactive tracers. 3. Precise Image-Based Measurements through Irregular Sampling
Abstract : Mathematical morphology is a theory that is applicable broadly in signal processing, but in this thesis we focus mainly on image data. Fundamental concepts of morphology include the structuring element and the four operators: dilation, erosion, closing, and opening. READ MORE

4. Non-Uniform Sampling in Statistical Signal Processing
Abstract : Non-uniform sampling comes natural in many applications, due to for example imperfect sensors, mismatched clocks or event-triggered phenomena. Examples can be found in automotive industry and data communication as well as medicine and astronomy. READ MORE

5. Generalized Bandpass Sampling Receivers for Software Defined Radio
Abstract : Based on different sampling theorem, for example classic Shannon’s sampling theorem and Papoulis’ generalized sampling theorem, signals are processed by the sampling devices without loss of information. As an interface between radio receiver front-ends and digital signal processing blocks, sampling devices play a dominant role in digital radio communications. READ MORE
