  1. 1. Signal Transduction in Photoreceptor Proteins Insights From Time-Resolved X-ray Solution Scattering

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Göteborgs universitet

    Author : Oskar Berntsson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2017]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Signal transduction; Photoreceptor; Time-resolved X-ray solution scattering; Protein dynamics; Phytochrome; Light-oxygen-voltage; Cryptochrome;

    Abstract : The ability to sense and react to different light conditions is of great importance for many organisms on the face of the earth. Specialized proteins known as photoreceptor proteins provide bacteria, plants and animals with this ability. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hormone-Sensitive Lipase and Protein Kinase B; Molecular characterization in testis, adipose tissue and pancreatic beta cells

    University dissertation from Section for Molecular Signalling, CMB, P.O. Box 94, S-221 00 Lund, Sweden

    Author : Lena Stenson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; signal transduction; pancreas; beta cells; adipocyte; insulin; Akt; protein kinase B; spermatogenesis; cholesterol esterase; hormone-sensitive lipase; testis; cAMP; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Abstract : Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) and protein kinase B (PKB) are enzymes that in different ways are associated with lipid metabolism. While HSL is the well-known lipolytic enzyme responsible for hydrolysis of stored triacylglycerols in adipose tissue, PKB is a recently identified serine/threonine protein kinase, ubiquitously expressed and involved in signal transduction pathways induced by insulin and growth factors. 4. 4. Studies in beta cells and adipocytes in the context of obesity and T2D - focusing on PDE3B, OPN and SCFAs

    University dissertation from Insulin Signal Transduction

    Author : Emilia Heimann; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obesity; type 2 diabetes; islets of Langerhans; adipocytes; PDE3B; OPN; SCFAs;

    Abstract : Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a heterogeneous disease characterized by altered lipid parameters and elevated glucose levels, as a direct consequence of impaired insulin signaling in target tissues and reduced insulin exocytosis from pancreatic β-cells. Obesity, which dramatically increases worldwide, is associated with insulin resistance and T2D. READ MORE

  5. 5. Epigenetic Regulation of Replication Timing and Signal Transduction

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Rosita Bergström; Uppsala universitet.; [2008]
    Keywords : Cell and molecular biology; Chromatin; CTCF; Epigenetics; Genomic Imprinting; H19; Id; Igf2; Insulator; Replication; Signal Transduction; Smad; TGF-β; Transcription; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Upon fertilization the paternal and maternal genomes unite, giving rise to the embryo, with its unique genetic code. All cells in the human body are derived from the fertilized ovum: hence they all contain (with a few exceptions) the same genetic composition. READ MORE
