  1. 16. The molecular mechanisms behind perception and signal transduction of UV-B irradiation in Arabidopsis thaliana

    Author : Irina Kalbina; Åke Strid; Lars-Gunnar Franzén; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Action spectroscopy; Arabidopsis; gene expression; reverse genetics; signal transduction; UV-B irradiation.; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Elevation of UV-B radiation (280-315 nm), occurring as a result of depletion of the stratospheric ozone, causes a number of physiological and biochemical changes in plants. Damage to the photosynthetic apparatus (including the bleaching of the pigments which trap the sun's energy), to the processes of cell division and growth regulation, and to the composition and replication of genetic material are just some of these changes. 2. 17. TGFβ Signal Transduction in Endothelial Cells

    Author : Gudrun Valdimarsdóttir; Peter ten Dijke; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Christer Betsholtz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Transforming growth factor β (TGFβ) is a multifunctional cytokine that is involved in many biological effects, such as proliferation, migration, differentiation and cell survival. TGFβ regulates cellular responses by binding to a heteromeric complex of type I and type II serine/threonine kinase receptors. READ MORE

  3. 18. Platelet-derived growth factor a- and ß-receptors : structure and characterization of signal transduction

    Author : Anders Eriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  4. 19. Signal Transduction in Mast Cell Migration

    Author : Magnus Sundström; Bengt Hallberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; HMC-1; Kit; MAP kinase; mast cells; mastocytosis; p38; SCF; TGF-β; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : Mast cells are essential effector cells in the immune system as they release several inflammatory mediators. An accumulation of mast cells has been described in inflammatory conditions such as asthma and allergic rhinitis. READ MORE

  5. 20. Transforming growth factor-ß. Signal regulation in health and disease

    Author : Urban Molander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : TGF-b; BMP; Smad; signal transduction; LDL; skin tumour; mesangial;

    Abstract : TGF-b superfamily members have been shown to play a pivotal role in multicellular organisms. Knowledge about signal transduction pathways is important in order to understand and cure diseases like cancer where TGF-b´s growth inhibitory signal often are disenabled via mutated or absent signalling components.
