  1. 6. Deciphering ret signalling in cell biology and development

    Author : Moritz Lübke; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The rearranged during transformation (RET) tyrosine kinase regulates a plethora of biological processes such as cell survival, proliferation and migration and is essential for the normal development of several organs such as the sensory, enteric and sympathetic nervous systems and the kidneys. After RET activation by its ligands several intracellular tyrosine residues are phosphorylated and serve as binding sites for adaptor proteins that activate different downstream signalling pathways. 2. 7. Track circuits’ robustness : Modeling, measurement and simulation

    Author : Emilio Rodriguez; Ajit Kumar Verma; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Track circuit; Relay; False positive signals; Signalling in railway; Modelling; Simulation; Testing; Robustness; Interoperability; Reliability; Railway Infrastructure; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance Engineering;

    Abstract : In countries with rough weather conditions, frequent delays cause railway companies to waste time and money. Many of these delays are related to the train detection systems, as the old DC track circuits are still used in some countries, including Sweden, our case study. READ MORE

  3. 8. Caveolae in insulin signalling in human and rat adipocytes

    Author : Margareta Karlsson; Bengt Jergil; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The pancreatic hormone insulin is a key hormone in maintenance of metabolic homeostasis but it also exerts control on gene expression and cell growth. This thesis presents results on fhe role of caveolae in insulin signalling in human and rat adipocytes. READ MORE

  4. 9. Global regulatory factors that impact metabolic and lifestyle choices in Pseudomonas putida

    Author : Lisa Wirebrand; Victoria Shingler; Matthew Francis; Carlos Balsalobre; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pseudomonas putida; c-di-GMP; motility; ppGpp; DksA; biofilm dispersal; transcriptional and translational regulation; dmp-system; phenol catabolism; carbon repression control; plasmid stability;

    Abstract : Pseudomonas putida strains have a broad metabolic capacity and are innately resistant to many harmful substances – properties that make them of interest for a number of industrial and biotechnological application. They can rapidly adapt to changes in physico-chemical parameters in the soil and water environments they naturally inhabit. READ MORE

  5. 10. Neuronal types and their specification dynamics in the autonomic nervous system

    Author : Alessandro Furlan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The autonomic nervous system is formed by a sympathetic and a parasympathetic division that have complementary roles in the maintenance of body homeostasis. Autonomic neurons, also known as visceral motor neurons, are tonically active and innervate virtually every organ in our body. READ MORE
