  1. 11. Genetic and Epigenetic Profiling of Mantle Cell Lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

    Author : Anna Margrét Halldórsdóttir; Richard Rosenquist; Reiner Siebert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mantle cell lymphoma; chronic lymphocytic leukemia; copy number aberration; proliferation signature; TP53; SNP array; methylation array; Haematology; Hematologi; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Tumour biology; Tumörbiologi; Medical Genetics; Medicinsk genetik; Oncology; Onkologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine; Pathology; Patologi;

    Abstract : Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) both belong to the group of mature B-cell malignancies. However, MCL is typically clinically aggressive while the clinical course of CLL varies. READ MORE

  2. 12. Tumour evolution and novel biomarkers in breast cancer

    Author : Jana Biermann; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; breast cancer; gene signature; molecular biomarkers; tumour clonality; genomic instability; Swedish haemangioma cohort;

    Abstract : Several gene signatures have been proposed in the past two decades to improve outcome prediction for breast cancer patients and to guide treatment decisions. Current treatment guidelines, however, primarily focus on established clinicopathological features. READ MORE

  3. 13. Network and gene expression analyses for understanding protein function

    Author : Oliver Frings; Erik Sonnhammer; Rune Linding; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biological networks; network inference; network analysis; clustering; network module; network crosstalk; expression analysis; gene signature; biomarker; biokemi; inriktning teoretisk kemi; Biochemistry with Emphasis on Theoretical Chemistry;

    Abstract : Biological function is the result of a complex network of functional associations between genes or their products. Modeling the dynamics underlying biological networks is one of the big challenges in bioinformatics. READ MORE

  4. 14. A study of DNA interactive proteins and their origin from thermophilic Siphoviridae phages

    Author : Josefin Ahlqvist; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thermophilic bacteriophages; Siphoviridae; Genome comparison; Protein production; DNA polymerase I; Holliday junction resolving enzyme; Structure–function relationship; Signature motifs; Bioinformatics;

    Abstract : This thesis covers the results of studies on the amino acid sequence, three-dimensional structure, and activities of two types of DNA-interactive proteins: Holliday Junction resolving enzyme (represented by Hjc_15-6 isolated from phage Tth15-6) and DNA Polymerase I (represented by PolI_G20c, isolated from phage G20c), including studies on their homologous counterparts. As these proteins originate from two different, but related phages that infect Thermus thermophilus, the studies also include the evolutionary relationship between these and other related phages at genomic level. 5. 15. Hardware and Software Mechanisms for Control Flow Checking

    Author : Ghassem Miremadi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fault tolerance; error detection latency; signature monitoring; watchdog processor; dependability evaluation; transient faults; physical fault injection; concurrent error detection; control flow checking; error detection coverage;

    Abstract : The improvement of dependability in computing systems requires the evaluation of fault tolerance mechanisms such as error detection, error recovery and reconfiguration. Central to this thesis is an experimental evaluation of several hardware and/or software implemented mechanisms for the concurrent detection of control flow errors. READ MORE
