  1. 6. Regulation of Human Papillomavirus Type 16 mRNA Splicing and Polyadenylation

    Author : Xiaomin Zhao; Stefan Schwartz; Barklie Clements; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; human papillomavirus type 16; gene regulation; splicing; polyadenylation; 3 UTR; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV-16) is the major causative agent of cervical cancer. The life cycle of this oncogenic DNA tumour virus is strictly associated with the differentiation program of the infected epithelial cells. Expression of the viral capsid genes L1 and L2 can only be detected in the terminally differentiated epithelial cells. READ MORE

  2. 7. Active Control of Noise in Ventilation Systems : Analysis and Experiments

    Author : Martin Larsson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In many kinds of buildings, the ventilation system constitute a well known source of broadband noise. Traditionally, duct born noise is attenuated using passive resistive silencers which produce a high level of attenuation over a broad frequency range. However, they tend to become large and bulky if designed for low frequency attenuation. READ MORE

  3. 8. Antimicrobial peptides and proteins in innate immunity : emphasis on isolation, characterization and gene regulation

    Author : Maria Tollin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Colon; vernix caseosa; rCRAMP; LL-37; cathelicidins; promoter studies;

    Abstract : Antimicrobial peptides are endogenous antibiotics and effector molecules of Innate immunity. These peptides are mainly localised to epithelial linings and circulating neutrophils. They kill microbes by disruption of their membranes. The two main families of mammalian antimicrobial peptides are defensins and cathelicidins. READ MORE

  4. 9. Histone modification regulated bysuppressor of Zeste 12 and Ipl1 : Aurora-like kinase in Drosophila

    Author : Anna Larsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : molekylär bioteknik inst f molekylärbiologi ; molecular biotechnology dept of molecular biology ;

    Abstract : Polycomb group (PcG) proteins are a group of genome wide silencers that are crucial for many processes during the development. In Drosophila PcG proteins are organised into four different complexes: PRC1, PRC2, PhoRC and PR-DUB. PRC2 consists of four core proteins: Su(z)12, E(z), Esc and Nurf. READ MORE
