  2. 2. Prediction and Optimisation of Traffic Noise. A Study on Noise Barriers and Shielded Areas

    Author : Pontus Thorsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; city canyon; absorption; city noise; insertion loss; traffic noise; soundscape; silent side; noise barrier; ground impedance;

    Abstract : The main contribution of noise levels in cities is today road traffic. The strongest source for all road vehicles is most often the tyre-road contact. This source position close to the ground is fortunate with respect to secondary noise abatement measures, such as absorbing road surfaces or noise barriers. READ MORE

  3. 3. Clinical, biochemical and morphological aspects of cervical ripening in the first trimester

    Author : Nina Vukas Radulovic; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : cervical ripening; misoprostol; nitric oxide; electron microscopy; miscarriage; IL-8; MMP-1; MMP-8; MMP-9;

    Abstract : Background: The uterine cervix has the ability to be transformed from being a rigid organ in non-pregnant women to become a loose structure that dilates and allows passage of the foetus at parturition. This process, cervical ripening, has been described similar to an inflammatory reaction of the extracellular matrix involving activation of inflammatory cytokines, matrix metalloproteinases and breakdown of the collagen framework. 5. 5. Aerothermal Investigation of an Intermediate Turbine Duct

    Author : Carlos Arroyo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flowfield measurements; heat transfer measurements.; Intermediate turbine duct;

    Abstract : Intermediate turbine ducts are used to guide the flow in turbofan engines from the short-radius high-pressure turbine to the large-radius low-pressure turbine. The demand for more efficient and silent jet engines and with a reduced environmental impact requires turbofans with increasingly higher by-pass ratios. READ MORE
