  1. 1. Ruthenium-catalyzed C-H Functionalization of (Hetero)arenes

    Author : Karthik Devaraj; Lukasz T. Pilarski; Victor A. Snieckus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catalysis; C-H activation; heterocycles; ruthenium; aryne precursor; silylation; gramine;

    Abstract : This thesis concerned about the Ru-catalyzed C-H functionalizations on the synthesis of 2-arylindole unit, silylation of heteroarenes and preparation of aryne precursor.In the first project, we developed the Ru-catalyzed C2-H arylation of N-(2-pyrimidyl) indoles and pyrroles with nucleophilic arylboronic acids under oxidative conditions. 2. 2. New Arylation Strategies Based on Organomain Group Reactivity

    Author : Carina Sollert; Lukasz T. Pilarski; Brenton L. DeBoef; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C-H functionalisation; catalysis; ruthenium; indole; silylation; boronate; boryl aryne; aryne distortion; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The work in this thesis describes the development of new heteroarylation methodology based on transition metal-catalysed C-H functionalisation and the properties of organomain group compounds. The underlying reaction mechanisms and reactivity patterns of the (hetero)arene substrates are also investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Transition metal-catalyzed allylic and vinylic functionalization : Method development and mechanistic investigations

    Author : Johanna M. Larsson; Kálmán J. Szabó; Dennis G. Hall; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palladium; copper; catalysis; Heck reaction; C-H functionalization; allylic substitution; silylation; borylation; trifluoromethylation; fluorination; mechanistic study; transition metal; alkene; allylic silane; allylic boronate; allylic fluoride; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The use of small molecule building blocks in, for example, pharmaceutical research and new material development, creates a need for new and improved organic synthesis methods. The use of transition metals as mediators and catalysts opens up new reaction pathways that have made the synthesis of completely new compounds possible as well as greatly improved the synthetic routes to known compounds. 4. 4. Synthesis of functionalized allylic, propargylic and allenylic compounds : Selective formation of C–B, C–C, C–CF3 and C-Si bonds

    Author : Tony Zhao; Kálmán Szabó; Hajime Ito; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palladium catalysis; allylboration; allenylboration; trifluoromethylation; silylation; copper catalysis; borylation; bimetallic catalysis; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on the development of new palladium and copper- mediated reactions for functionalization of alkenes and propargylic alcohol derivatives. The synthetic utility of the 1,2-diborylated butadienes synthesized in one of these processes has also been demonstrated. READ MORE

  5. 5. Palladium-catalyzed C-H functionalization of alkenes under oxidative conditions

    Author : Johanna M Larsson; Kálmán Szabó; Eszter Borbas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The unique properties of high oxidation state palladium have been used to develop new catalytic alkene C-H functionalization reactions. A Heck-type coupling based on the reactivity of palladium catalysts and diaryliodonium salts has been developed with broad synthetic scope and tolerance for functional groups that are ordinarily reactive in Pd0/PdII catalysis, for example, allylic acetates and aryl bromides.
