  1. 1. Thermal response tests : influence of convective flow in groundwater filled borehole heat exchanger

    Author : Anna-Maria Gustafsson; Jeffrey D. Spitler; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Vattenteknik; Water Resources Engineering; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : The main objective of this doctorial thesis was to investigate how thermally induced movements in the groundwater (natural convective flow) may influence the heat transport in borehole and surrounding bedrock in a groundwater filled borehole heat exchanger system. The purpose was also to determine if thermal response tests could be used to detect the convective influence and the effect on evaluated heat transfer parameters, effective bedrock thermal conductivity and borehole thermal resistance. 2. 2. Well Testing, Methods and Applicability

    Author : Jan-Erik Rosberg; Teknisk geologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; slug tests; well completion; re-injection; Well testing; pumping tests; injection tests; well development; pneumatic initiation; hydro-jetting; coiled tubing; tunnel lining; deep wells;

    Abstract : Well testing is widely used today in water wells, oil and gas wells, for geothermal applications, within civil engineering projects, thermal storage and CO2 storage. The overall testing goal is to verify the productivity from a well and/or for characterization of hydraulic and thermal properties, as well as the spatial limitations of an aquifer. READ MORE

  3. 3. Bell tests and the no-signalling assumption

    Author : Massimiliano Smania; Mohamed Bourennane; Ingemar Bengtsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum; quantum optics; Bell tests; CHSH inequality; entanglement; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Bell's theorem was originally meant for testing fundamental properties of Nature, namely local realism. However, through the years it has become a powerful device for certifying encryption security, randomness, and entanglement among other properties. READ MORE

    Abstract : Over the last decade environmental agencies worldwide have escalated their work to phase out animal testing for the purposes of chemical regulation. Meanwhile the number of commercially available chemicals and the requirements for hazard assessments have both increased, creating a large need for substitution of traditional in vivo assays with in vitro tests. 5. 5. The value of simplicity : image browsing techniques and tests

    Author : Anna Hedman; Karl W. Sandberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Image browsing is involved in many different types of tasks, such as interacting with a desktop and file system, viewing digital photo albums, etc. Different techniques are available for different types of tasks, but results from image browsing tests have been varied. READ MORE
