6. Investigation of the most essential factors influencing ski glide
Abstract : There are many different parameters of a ski running surface (material, roughness, hydrophobicity, etc.). All the parameters have an influence on ski glide, some more and some less. Furthermore, some parameters with only minor relevance are commonly declared as critical, while truly critical parameters, as far as we know, never been investigated. READ MORE

7. Monitoring Health Problems and Training to Support Performance in Competitive Cross-Country Ski Athletes
Abstract : Competitive cross-country (XC) ski athletes (defined hereafter as XC skiers and biathletes combined) are vulnerable to developing various health-related symptoms and conditions due to several factors, such as high physiological and psychological demands, extreme competition and training environments, high training loads, demanding competition schedules, and frequent travel. On initiating this work, we (the author and supervisory team) were approached by the Swedish Ski Association (SSF) and the Swedish Biathlon Federation (SSSF) to investigate the relationships between training, racing, and health problems, with a specific focus on illnesses (rather than injuries), and an ultimate goal of improving future support practices and athletic performance. 8. Motion analysis of the knee : kinematic artifacts, EMG normalisation and joint forces
Abstract : The non-contact anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is the most common and serious debilitating knee joint injury in male and female athletes. To create an ACL injury paradigm that will lead to improved treatment and prevention it is necessary to understand how ACL injuries occur. READ MORE

9. On the role of bioactive sphingolipids and their metabolizing enzymes in cancer
Abstract : Ceramide is a family of closely related molecules, which are presumed to be in the center of sphingolipid metabolism. Among sphingolipid metabolites, several ceramide subspecies and sphingosine induce apoptosis, cell cycle arrest and death, whereas sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) mediates cell proliferation, invasion, angiogenesis and metastasis. 10. Use of thermosyphons in a subarctic climate
Abstract : In frozen ground, climatic changes and thermal disturbance might cause thawing and degradation of ground previously frozen. Foundations built on frozen ground might be destroyed in a matter of a few seasons. These problems are mostly pronounced in permafrost regions, but also exist in regions with more moderate climates.
