  1. 1. Lipoproteins in Staphylococcus aureus infections

    Author : Majd Mohammad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Staphylococcus aureus; lipoproteins; TLR2; septic arthritis; skin infection; mouse;

    Abstract : Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) infections remain a major challenge for the healthcare system, and new treatment options are highly demanded. S. aureus is a pathogenic microorganism, responsible for a broad range of clinical infections in humans. READ MORE

  2. 2. A functional genomics approach to PDGF and pericyte biology

    Author : Cecilia Bondjers; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : PDGF; hair follicle; skin; testis; epithelial-mesenchymal interaction; microarray; pericyte; transgenic mouse;

    Abstract : The rapid expansion of genome sequence data demands for increased efforts and speed concerning functional analysis of gene products. Two approaches to such analysis, namely transgenic technologies and analysis of gene expression have successfully been used to study functions of gene products in complex organisms, such as mammals. 3. 3. Functions of platelet-derived growth factor-A during organogenesis

    Author : Linda Karlsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; platelet-derived growth factor-A; knockout; mouse organogenesis; epithelial-mesenchymalinteractions; skin; hair follicles; CNS; lung; gastrointestinal villus;

    Abstract : The formation of organs during embryonic development is calledorganogenesis. This process is regulated by the genes residing in the genome. READ MORE

  4. 4. Distribution and function of TRP ion channels in primary sensory neurons

    Author : Helena Sturesson; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neurofysiologi; neuropsykologi; histokemi; cytokemi; vävnadskultur; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; tissue culture; histochemistry; cytochemistry; Histology; Skin; Immunohistochemistry; Cannabinoid receptor 1 CB1 ; Pain; Primary sensory neurons; TRP ion channels; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Histologi;

    Abstract : It is frequently argued that cannabinoids exert part of their analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects via activation of the cannabinoid CB1 receptor located on TRPV1-expressing primary sensory nerve fibres in peripheral tissues. However, we find no evidence of CB1 receptor immunoreactivity on nerve fibres in rat or mouse hindpaw skin and mesenteric artery. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cutaneous resistance against Francisella tularensis

    Author : Stephan Stenmark; Mikael Rhen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : tularemia; Francisella tularensis; skin; protection; cytokines; T-cells; B-cells; specific antibodies; Infectious Diseases; infektionssjukdomar;

    Abstract : Francisella tularensis, the causative agent of tularemia, is a potent pathogen in humans and other mammals. The ulceroglandular form of the disease is the most common expression in humans with a clinical picture characterized by a skin ulcer, enlarged regional lymph nodes and fever. READ MORE
