  1. 1. Preliminaries for probabilistic railway sleeper design

    Author : Johanna Lilja; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sensor placement; factorial design; Railway sleeper; ballast; load variation; stochastic parameters; correlation length;

    Abstract : Two investigations are presented, which can be seen ascontributions to the aim of introducing a probabilistic designstrategy of railway sleepers in the future. When usingprobabilistic design the statistics of all relevant parametersconsidered as stochastic must be known. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structural Behaviour of Concrete Railway Sleepers

    Author : Rikard Gustavson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; concrete; finite element analysis; three-wire strand; sleeper; bond; strand; pull-through tests; steel encased; push-in tests; bond mechanism; numerical bond model; dynamic loads;

    Abstract : The railway concrete sleeper is an important part of the railway track structure. The sleeper member requires substantial engineering skills during the design and manufacturing process in order to fulfil the requirements set by modern train traffic. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the Influence of Rail Vehicle Parameters on the Derailment Process and its Consequences

    Author : Dan Brabie; Evert Andersson; Johan Oscarsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; train; railway; rail vehicle; accident; incident; derailment; bogie design; simulation; wheel; sleeper; impact; Vehicle engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis aims at systematically studying the possibilities of minimising devastatingconsequences of high-speed derailments by appropriate measures and features in thetrain design, including the running gear. The course of events immediately afterderailments is studied with respect to whether the train stays upright and close to thetrack centre line or deviates laterally with probably serious consequences. 4. 4. Towards Model-Based Condition Monitoring of Railway Switches and Crossings

    Author : Marko Milosevic; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sleeper void; Switches crossings; condition indicators; embedded sleeper accelerometer; multi-body simulations; dynamic vehicle–track interaction; MBS; S C; wheel–rail contact forces; condition monitoring; crossing rail geometry; displacement reconstruction.; model calibration;

    Abstract : Railway switches and crossings (S&C, turnouts) connect different track sections and create a railway network by allowing for trains to change between tracks. This functionality comes at a cost as the load-inducing rail discontinuities in the switch and crossing panels cause much higher degradation rates for S&C compared to regular plain line track. Author : Siril Yella; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : Automatisk inspektion av järnvägsslipers;
